Xenogender

Type: Gender

Definition: Xenogneder is a label used by those who's gender can't be described in terms relating to the typical human binary, such as masculine, feminine, androgynous, man, woman, or any other terms with the same relation. Instead, someone who is Xenogender may describe their gender in relation to other things, such as animals, plants, concepts, aesthetics, or emotions. There are many genders that fall under the category of Xenogender, and some individuals may use multiple Xenogenders and nonxenogenders to describe their experiances. It is a part of the Nonbinary, Genderqueer, and Transgender umbrellas though not everyone who uses the label will consider themself to be any or all of these as well.

This is the Xenogender flag made by Pastelmemer in January 2017. The symbol in the middle is the astronomical sign for the asteroid Iris, named after the Greek goddess of rainbows. The colors of the flag were chosen from iris flowers.

These flags are the same as the previous flag with the symbol removed and a second version with only 5 stripes.

This is an alternative Xenogender flag made by Pride-Flags in February 2017. The symbol in the middle is based on an iris, with the colors of the flag being chosen from the most common color of iris flowers.

Make them paintings that are full of clashing colors and weird forms.

Draw them a fursona

Wear that bright yellow outfit for Apollon.

Put on a dramatic makeup look for Aphrodite.

Call your closest deity that silly little nickname you have for them and let them call you one too.

Share your special interests with your Gods. Design your God as a pokémon or a crystal gem, or a sonic character.

Part of community action and moving away from capitalist structures can be being a community caretaker. It's doing what we tend to historically identify as ""women's work"" — cooking, cleaning, childcare, gardening, needle and fiber work, etc.

It's not just for women. It's literally just a different form of labor. It's important.

It's mending not only your own clothes, but the clothes of your friends, family, and community members who do not have the ability to mend themselves. It's knitting or crocheting practical items like gloves, hats, socks, and scarves and gifting them to those who need them directly or donating them to a local org who gets them out into the community. It's making blankets out of old tshirts and wash rags out of the scraps. It's offering to watch your friend's kid for an hour or two so they can get some rest. If you have a living situation where you have access to land it's growing a garden and sharing the crop. It's making a hotdish for a friend or neighbor when they're not doing well. It's going over and doing dishes for someone who is struggling.

It's not right that women have been historically forced into doing these things under Patriarchal rule. They are tasks anyone can do to improve their lives and the lives of others around them. The idea that their Patriarchal connection to womanhood makes them unimportant or not useful is rooted in misogynist bias.

"Revolutionaries" who don't value work traditionally done by women are, in fact, just reactionaries (who have internalized patriarchal value systems). A revolution must have a future, and in that future we all need food, clothes, health care, childcare, and community support of a million other forms. People of any gender can carry these burdens, and people of any gender can help to build infrastructure, or fight the fights that are necessary, or protest, etc.
