about

Sometimes, an album comes about effortlessly, unplanned and almost as a gift. Exactly this is the case with "Beshijn".

A few weeks ago, once more while looking for something completely different on my archive hard drives, I stumbled upon four rough sketches of ambient tracks which I couldn't even remember to have recorded.

But, they sounded not bad at all, although it was also obvious that they needed some additions and refinement. I started to toy around with that basic material, and in the matter of just two or three hours, four new versions of those tracks had emerged that sounded rather good to my ears.

I put them on one of my falling-asleep-to CDrs and listened to them several times off and on, and decided that I wanted to use them in one way or another.

As it, too, sometimes happens, just recently I felt the urge to do another release this year, so I looked at those four tracks again and decided that I needed two more to complete an album - and in just two evenings, those two additional tracks came together so easily as if they just had waited for manifesting themselves.

And here it is, another (mostly) drone based ambient album with some more rhythmical (but still very chilled-out) sections. It hardly feels like it was me who produced it, and sometimes these things turn out better than the "big" projects that are planned beforehand and the often executed more heavy-handedly...

P.S. Same with the cover art, btw. - one evening when I had just returned from my daytime job, I grabbed my smartphone and started taking picture of plants and glasses, lamps and vases in our appartment without having thought about it previously, and as if someone else had told me to.
It took me about ten minutes for several dozen of shots, then I picked a few, messed around with those in Photoshop, and an hour later I had nice material for a video and the cover.

It really felt like bein in the flow, and I always love if this is happening...
