This is crazy, after having this username for the past 5 years-ish, I have managed to go from 0 people recognizing my username to I think you’re the 4th or 5th in the past few days. This is incredible, YES THANK YOU. IT IS A REFERENCE TO THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE!!!! That show legitimately changed my life. If you’ve read my fanfic Papillomatosis, I have scenes and dialogue that directly reference Hill House. I love doomed characters. I don’t think Vanessa is necessarily one but Nellie from Hill House has been haunted by her own death since she was a child and god if that isn’t just the most beautiful horror.
We laugh at how The Art of War is basically just, “An army can’t fight if the soldiers aren’t eating,” but I’m reading this document about conservation of ancient yew trees and it legitimately says, “You should never fill the center of a hollow yew with concrete,” so I think that probably making blatantly obvious statements is just the bane of being a specialist in anything
RCBG character dynamics are so great, every time i find myself going "this could be fixed by X" i realize that would actually make it worse, at least in the short term. This is one of the few stories I read where I have absolutely no clue what is gonna happen beyond vague ideas, and I love it.

huge werewolf who’s really into petplay and she’s kind of humiliated by that
she’s dating this girl and looking human. she doesn’t really like looking human but the girl doesn’t know she’s a werewolf yet and she’s nervous to tell her because a lot of humans are weird about that and she really likes this girl
she eventually finally mentions it and says in the smallest shyest voice “yeah so im a werewolf please dont be mad” and instead of getting mad her girlfriend grins and goes “awwww sick i love dogs! are you the big silly puppy kind of werewolf? are you my dog?” and the wolf gets so happy she loses control of it and shifts on the spot
