Guys T^T I finally did it.

First animatic in 4 years. I am crying.
It’s by far not perfect. Especially the editing is not what I wanted. I wanted to do some more stuff but… my desire to get it DONE outweighted everything else T^T

That animatic ngl makes me so fkn sad because. Like?!?!? Look at them. They were so happy!!! (Probably) They could be happy but nooooooo it got ripped away from them and us and I’m just … DX

Also you cannot convince me Nice wasn’t super horny before he got super messed up.

Also that little bit where he is balancing on that little brickwall. That’s supposed to be a reference when he jumped :’)

My favourite shot even though it’s not really special is when he reaches towards the grey sky. It’s just. It feels so hopeful!

And the amount of headcanons I put in there is XD very fun.

New favourite headcanon aquired: That scene in the fight between Nice and Wreck where Nice fixes the arrow on Wreck’s mask. That move is actually a diversion (forced onto Nice by his Trust). In truth Nice wanted to rip that mask off of Wreck to look at his beloveds pretty face and check that he’s alright.

I am certain someone made this post before but. It is still so cute to me that Ghostblade and Zhang Lan had the attacker-meet-cute in the same alley and the same way Loli and Nuonuo had.

Just had the thought: hm maybe I should watch Link Click again.

And then I remembered the trauma and thought: yeahhhh maybe I’ll wait until season three 🥲

Yall. It has been a hot second since I talked about Nice, time to remedy that :D.
So. Like a while back I saw this tweet and it fkn blew my mind.

Edit: new info by @axolgodl “For some context—that tweet is not from the english VA’s account, and the VA in question—Mauricio—as well as the English director herself both said that none of the English cast or crew knew much about the characters OR the direction of the script when recording, nor do they know anything about season 2 in their interview at Anime Frontier.” Thank you so much again for adding this info <3

Because. Okay here is the thing. The things. There are a few.

For one. If that’s really all a promo from Treeman for Nice (with Lin Ling playing Nice here). This either means the way he acts is heavily instructed or that this is his perception of Nice.
However why would Treeman use such imagery with the hands? That’s very much not something clean and perfect you want to present your Idol as.

Then. There is this other thing that I noticed when I watched the Treeman ad.
It’s the one where Nice and Wreck are shown performing and I totally missed that in this ad Nice is the Idol version of himself as well as his hero version because his merch exists.
I had always assumed when he became a hero his idol duties stopped.

Either they didn’t and he was doing both which is. Quite frankly an insane amount of pressure and training and time management.
But also, there have been shown to be Nice cosplayers. So. Possibly the ones on stage were? Maybe supposed to be lookalikes?

The whole thing is just. So so messy in regards of how many versions of Nice and how many “imposters” of him exist and. I feel like it’s hinting at a lot and it is driving me just a little insane.

And. Also. If those parts are all Lin Ling, that means probably the most honest and real things from and about Nice himself are the PV where he fights with Wreck , his introductory video where he says the line that he’ll do any dirty tricks. (I don’t remember which video that was >< if any of you know can you sent it to me?) And his flashbacks in the later episodes of the season. (Though I am still unsure about their reliability. Things seemed very warped and metaphorical in many ways.)
And then????? DOn’t get me started on his promo pictures where he feels like two different characters???!!! Like here:

And I am sitting here thinking: Are they all the same Nice? Is one of them Lin Ling without us knowing? Is one of them maybe a predecessor????? Is that just Nice in different stages of his life? What are we dealing with here??!?!?!??!

Like????? That’s why I keep saying there are basically 3 versions of Nice circulating in my head. Innocent “I just want to make people smile” bebi Nice, vulnerable I-am-way-over-my-head and can’t take it anymore Nice, and bitchy mccunt I’ll step on you Nice.
Okay. If we take the few things Nice has said himself then all three versions can be boiled down to things he said himself.
1. “I want to protect every perfect smile” possibly the youngest version
2. “I don’t want to die, not like this!” The broken, vulnerable version of himself
3. “I will do any dirty tricks to achieve my goal” Mr. I’ll stab you in the back with a smile version.
Maybe the order is wrong if that’s really his progression. 1 stays but 3 and 2 change? Or. Maybe 3 is something he’ll become in season 2?

So. Where am I going with this? My main take away here is that bro is still an enigma to me and it makes me nuts. Like???? We have puzzle pieces but????? They don’t make a picture and I knooooooowwwwwww that’s on purpose but. I feel like I am chewing on a toy I can’t crack T^T (pun wasn’t intended but that makes it even more enjoyable to me XD)

By all means I am not a Ghostblade enthusiast. I enjoy him as much as all the other characters but. I still really, really dislike how Zhang Lan was handled.

It’s the classic “oh a baby changes the life trajectory of a woman” trope and I really, really hate that one! Like. Yes she can change, like she said, but I just hate it!
I love that Ghostblade has a daughter. I do like that the two of them split up over different/changing views of life. Sometimes you just don’t change in the same way your partner does and that’s nothing bad. Neither is necessarily wrong for that.
I also hate how she put the metaphorical gun against his head. Like? Gurl? He fell in love with you cuz you were SILENT! And you have been together for what? Half a year? I do not want to defend Ghostblade in being stuck in his way but I also think that the whole thing villainizes Zhang Lan so much and does her character so dirty.

Actually it villainizes both. Ghostblade for not doing better even though he clearly had issues even before the whole hero thing that NOBODY helped him with???? And her. For not being understanding of all his predicaments and stealing his daughter away from him without any kind of compromise.

On one hand she’s portrayed as the reasonable one. The one that grows up and changes her way to do better for her child. Which is admirable. But on the other hand? The way she goes about handling Ghostblade feels vile to me.

And yes. Both things can coexist. That’s the beauty of complex characters.
I think I am just mad about the having a baby changes the woman radically kind of thing and it overall affects how I view the character and their relationship.

Anyway! I would kind of love to see her join the Spotlight organisation.
Why? Just because the way her face was lit in the conversation they were having. It was giving a similar vibe to Spotlight. Like, don’t ask me. Sometimes associations go brr XD

So. Hear me out. What if. Someone? Made her act so weird. So that Ghostblade had no longer any attachment to another person and would stay dedicated to his work? Just saying. It could? Fit? Ya kno?

Currently on my third(?) rewatch and… can we just appreciate that Loli is just crazy? As in she took on Ghostblade at 16? in a PROTOTYPE??? before she even was registered as a hero so no Trust involved(edit: nevermind i forgot her episode literally starts with her at the gym and the issue of trust. My bad! My point still stands though!)? Then she casually bitch slapped Shindig a previous X ? And then took out Nice and a whole army of trained soldiers in the spaceship????

Like sorry but girl is so fkn badass I am flabbergasted.

Hope she gets to fuck up more people in season 2
