Best thing a character can do ☝️ is feel overwhelming amounts of soul-crushing guilt. In my humble but objectively correct opinion.
we gotta stop blaming boomers. a lot of these people are gen x
the Republicans in that chat that got leaked with all the Nazi stuff are millennials, the college grads that musk put in charge of doge are gen z. There's no age limit on this shit

caption by @/ashleytheebarroness on tiktok: People reach for the Gestapo comparison because it sounds extreme and foreign. It lets white Americans pretend this kind of policing came from somewhere else. But ICE looks closer to slave patrols because that's our history. Local enforcement. Racialized suspicion. Vague authority. Taking people first, justifying it later. Gestapo is a warning. Slave patrols are a mirror.
You know I hadn’t made this exact connection at first but something in my gut told me that people comparing ice to the gestapo didn’t quite feel right. This comparison does fit a lot better.
Too much movement makes your joints hurt and too little movement also makes your joints hurt. This would imply that there's an optimal amount of movement that allows your joints to not hurt. This is a lie.

Angsty hangster idea
What about if during the mission after Bradley got shot down, he hit his head. And so the adrenaline and whatever (im not a doctor i just watch Grey's) has a delayed reaction to the concussion and he collapsed on the deck of the carrier after him and mav get back.
And hes basically in a coma, but his conscience is wandering around, attached to his body so he cant leave, but he gets to witness the consequences of his injury as the others all come by or stay awhile.
Fanboy and Payback are first and spend a few hours talking with rooster about video games, movies, the newest marvel movie that fanboy loved.
Next was Omaha and halo, and they mostly sit in silence. Sometimes Halo starts praying, and sometimes Omaha starts telling Bradley about his daughter. He even shows him pictures, she's a cute kid
Yale and Harvard stay the least amount of time, if only because they're being immediately stationed somewhere else now that the mission is over. But that doesn't stop them from coming to wish Bradley well and that they demand a night at the Hard Deck when they get back, drinks on rooster
Coyote, Fritz and Bob all come in at different times. Sometimes alone, sometimes together. They dont talk much—none of them really did before either, but its nice and they just sit peacefully with him.
Phoenix bears down like hell on high water and demands more comfortable arrangements for him from the nurses, then gets even more upset when they take too long to bring extra blankets. She's a mother hen and a protective mama cat all wrapped up in a tightly wound bundle of anxiety and she snaps at anyone that even looks at Bradley for too long
Mav spends the least amount of time with him. At first Bradley thought it was because of before, and even though they maybe reconciled while out there, maybe it was actually all a hallucination. It isnt until ice forces mav to sit and talk to rooster that he realizes mav has been mia because his ptsd went through the roof and hes been too terrified of what happened to goose and now what happened to rooster, both under his watch. Bradley wants to tell him it wasn't his fault, that he disobeyed the order to return to the ship and that any injuries are on him, not mav. But mav looks so haunted and hollow and vows to come see him only after he wakes up
Hangman—Jake, is the worst and best. Worst because hes the same protective presence that Phoenix is but wrapped up in southern charm. He uses his charisma to get Bradley into comfier sheets and more pillows, and flirts his way to two jello cups that hes been hoarding for Bradley since day one. But also the best because when jake is all alone, he talks. And Bradley fell in love with him through his words and his touch, and since hes pretty much a ghost right then, jakes voice will have to do. Though he hates it as well cause jake sounds a mixture of devastated and exhausted, on the brink of total collapse and hes barely hanging on.
And Bradley just wants to touch jake. But the first (and only) time he tried it cuased so much pain that Bradley blacked out and was convinced he'd end up dying for real and leaving everyone.
So he has to sit and watch and wait, listening to his friends and family and boyfriend grieving and trying to joke and he cant do anything but witness first hand what it feels like to loose a wingman.
(He wakes up two weeks later and doesn't let go of jakes hand once in almost 12 hoursl)
