Profanity filters on single-player games are just so... incredibly performative. They don't 'protect' the player from seeing the word (you have to type it in order to activate the filter), the only thing they do is scold the player.
My favorite solution to people who get offended at the things they themselves typed is a disclaimer on a puzzle page that said "If you type profanity you will see it."
Out: Can you pet the dog?
In: Can you name yourself Fuckface McShitass?
It's really funny and jarring when you encounter a profanity filter in a single-player m-rated grown-up game for adults, but I don't think they even make sense in kid's games. If anything I think "If you tell the computer to call you FuckNugget it will do that" is exactly the sort of obvious, low-stakes 'actions have consequences' lesson that's perfect for kids.
"This impacts nobody but yourself, and even then it does not alter gameplay or the intended experience, however we cannot allow it and you need to know we disapprove of offensive language. Anyway have fun in Gorequest 4: The Tittening."
Who else has thousands of ideas but unfortunately your mortal form is constantly at 'low battery' energy levels?
Trans men do not have male privilege.
“B-b-but what about trans men who look exactly like cis men! Stealthing trans men have male privilege!”
They aren’t being awarded privilege for being a trans man. They’re being awarded privilege for an incorrect assumption that they’re cis. This may be what some trans men want—to be seen exactly the same as cis men—however this is not the reality of trans men as a whole.
Trans men, as trans men, are not awarded male privilege. We do not live in a society which will see trans men who are open about being trans as being truly a man at this point—it’s not transphobic to acknowledge that the majority of society at this point is still, unfortunately, transphobic.
Like. It’s very fucking simple:
If the trans man says he’s trans, does he retain his privilege?
No?
Then trans men don’t have male privilege.
Some might be able to stealth into it.
But it’s not a trait that is inherent to trans men.
gothic horror is when there's a location. cosmic horror is when there's an unauthorized fucking Thing. folk horror is when you're outside.
Things that are transfeminism
Things that are not transfeminism
I think I'd be more open to the whole "trans men CAN have male privilege" conversation if it weren't the only goddamn thing people say about trans men.
