I agree with literally everything op is saying and I don't want to detract from their point but this website here, specifically for mobile games (though they intend to eventually branch out to other types) is creating a database that flags those exact types of predatory things. It also flags games as safe, so if you want to look for safe mobile games this is an invaluable resource.

Not even remotely the point but you can play tetris completely for free on their website with no predatory monetization bullshit, and while there are ads they are banner ads on the side of the screen that don't move or have flashing lights or anything like that so you can legit just ignore them, and on the mobile version you can't see any ads at all. It works on mobile browsers and on desktop, no app but you don't need one, it's set up to work just fine on a phone or tablet, and if you have a bluetooth keyboard that can connect to your phone you can play that way completely seamlessly. Also if you switch to display the desktop site it still all works just fine on phone BUT you can also change the controls to whatever you want.

Im glad sites that vet apps exist but if you do wanna play tetris without being bothered by bullshit the website is great!
