On behalf of dana (@danashehab) I'd like to take a moment to bring some attenton to the Ashour and Shehab family fundraiser. This is a legitimate fundraiser for two families who had to restart funding after their previous campaigns were shut down by gofundme - something distressingly common. Fundraising has been slow to pick up for them, but eleven people are being supported by this fund including several young children.

The winter weather is beginning to settle in to Gaza, with the recent heavy rains and dropping temperatures. Please share and donate as you're able to.

I thank everyone who donated and considered my family worthy of support. I am grateful to everyone who donated, even if it was just one dollar, because every donation opens a door of hope for us again.

Please donate as much as you can. My family is suffering and you are my only hope. Don't leave me alone.

A big reason why I think I became a marxist is bc I read A LOT of Calvin & Hobbes and Bill Watterson really went out of his way to lay the groundwork for teaching people critical analysis.

Like take this panel for example:

image

EVERYTHING one knows about American/Western culture, especially in the late 80's/early 90's, would lead to the logical next line being some form of "Kids These Days Are Succumbing To The Evils Of Satan" or some likewise cheap Reaction™

But then Bill pulls the rug out

image

He criticizes the "satanic" bands not for some lack of christian morals but because theyre a byproduct of hyperconsumptionist culture. Bill takes no issue with the subject matter bc his issue is knowing its only being done to sell rebellion as a consumer product rather than to say anything truly provocative or inspired.

who else has fantasized about the Nutrient Brick

w-e-i-r-d-f-o-o-d

You will never guess who tried to make a Nutrient Block in the late 90s

image

It really did have everything and some of the varieties even managed to have a Flavor, but the downside was that packing that much nutrition into a single log made your digestive system work REALLY hard and well it turned out to not be an appropriate thing to eat in an office environment. Look up the reviews if you want to hear some fascinating colorful descriptions of waves of loud farts

For legendary pokemon that aren't like, on the Dialga/Palkia level of imposing god-creatures but are still unique and cosmically necessary existences, like the lake trio, I'm such a huge fan of TF as a form of reproduction. Mespirit dies, and or feels like she's growing old, so Uxie and Azelf pick a human and transform (him) into a younger version of her. I love the force aspect of it, I love the struggling with new powers and new body and suddenly having siblings with a surprising interest in encouraging you to explore all of that. I think its cute. Get TF'd into a divine spirit, it'll be good for you.

you don't have to use 'they/them' pronouns, it's okay to just use she/her. don't let the transmisogynists make you feel like you have to accommodate the degendering they do to you.

kayla-denker

Seriously. I made the mistake of telling people that "they/them is ok too" when I first came out to try and avoid conflicts, hoping that it would keep people from seeing me as the transmisogynistic stereotype of "angry tranny that is overly sensative about pronouns."

Wanna take a guess what pronouns EVERYONE EXCLUSIVELY used to refer to me with?

There is no amount of degendering yourself that will ever be enough for them. So just don't do it, don't cut pieces off of yourself to fit other's expectations of you.
