Some next gen Lion Guard ocs!!
Heres a bit about each
Kichaka- Female jackal who is the daughter of Reirei and Goigoi. She, unlike her parents, believe in helping others and being good. She notices how badly the lions treat the outlanders and wants true peace.
Mizani - Male croc. Son of Tamka and Nduli. Soon after reaching adulthood, he started challenging the “crocodile way.” He was banished from Kiburi’s float for questioning it. He was born with a short tail, so hes not the best at swimming.
Mbaya - Male Skink. Son of Shupavu and Njano. Sneaky, two faced, and always trying to be on the winning side for all his life. This is brought into question after meeting the other outlander children. He acts cocky but is very unsure of himself after he starts questioning what hes been taught.
Chakula - Female Hyena. Daughter of Cheezi and Chungu. She grew up alongside Jioni and Usiku. Unlike her fathers, she is strong and confident. She usually has her own ideas of things, but follows Jioni because she wants to be a supportive friend.
Jioni - Female Hyena. Daughter of Janja and Jasiri. Jioni, despite resembling Janja, is a hyena who wants nothing more than to leave the outlands. She would want peace with the lions, but after her peace being rejected over and over, she is now thinking of a way to get all of her friends and their familys out of the outlands.
Usiku - Male Hyena. Son of Nne and Tano. Jioni and Chakula’s other friend from childhood. He often joins them on adventures. He has a more sarcastic tone about him, but truly cares about his friends and family. Hes terrified of the lions in the Pridelands, and just wants to leave as soon as possible.
Decided to challenge myself by drawing every single TLK character out there, up until this point in time, and post it here. You can see the finished project on my main account, though I figured to post it on my tumblr just show I could proudly show off my work and a few of my head canons.
Here is all the crocodiles across TLK:
Starting off with the Lion Guard again we have the most famous ones. Current leader of the Pridelands is Makuu(ambition), present alongside his honorary crocodile and advisor Hodari(clever) and talking with previous leader Pua(nose). Over time Makuu has become for cemented in his role as leader and improved his and his float's standing in the Pridelands, although he will admit how much of an ass he was at first. He still goes to Pua for advice, since the old croc had been leader since Mufasa's reign. Pua appreciates how much Makuu has matured and is pleased to see that the float has a capable leader for many season to come.
And continuing with leaders of floats we have Makuu's brother and leader of the Outlands crocodile float Kiburi(pride), alongside two of his followers Nduli(thug) and Tamka(announce). Unlike Makuu, who was willing to mature after analyzing how others would treat both him and his float if his behavior continued, Kiburi is much more reckless, arrogant, and uncaring. He believes in actions over words, and violent action above peaceful. This behavior eventually got him and his followers exiled and stuck in the Outlands. For the other crocs' sake, Makuu hopes Kiburi will wise up as a leader to keep his followers alive, but Makuu is secretly preparing for the others return, once they get too sick of him. Tamka and Nduli are also brothers and Pua's sons, very much the Cheezi and Chungu of crocodiles, though time will tell if they have the courage to leave their leader on their own merit.
Next we have two characters sharing the name as 'Crocodile', though veyr different and from two different eras. First is 'Crocodile' from "The Brightest Star", otherwise known as Ooni(crocodile-Yoruba). We first meet him when Mohatu is finding water for his kingdom and comes across Ooni crying due to loneliness, though later helps out Mohatu's subjects when the in-fighting causes one of their lives to get endangered. He's an old boy who knew Mohatu personally and helped him and the Pridelands out during one of the worst droughts in history. I decided to him make the father to Makuu, Riptail/Mpasuko's, and the other 'Crocodile'. He lived in the Oasis with his own float which he then passed onto his son, but when Mohatu died he came to visit him in the Pridelands for the funeral and got together with Makuu's mother. He's still alive to this day, but nearing the end of his life. Makuu will eventually reach out to his father before he passes, letting him know about his current role and which generation of Mohatu's descendants is on the throne.
The other 'Crocodile' comes from "A Great Team". Kada(crocodile-Hausa) is a childhood friend of Simba, along with the rhino calf Butu and the zebra colt Lemuta. The last child of Ooni, he resided in the Pridelands before Scar's reign and the increasing food shortages cut his life short.
Going back to the Oasis in the Operation Pridelands game we have a family of crocodiles, led by Daddy Croc/Sajenti(sergeant) and Mommy Croc/Kuogelea(swim). During Scar's reign, a few crocodiles fled to the Oasis, one of which had their babies there, though unfortuanutely the famine/journey took its toll and they passed. The two parents decided to watch over the mother's nest to see if any survivors hatched and sure enough, one did. They were all set to raise the little one alongside their own hatchlings when Kigali, Timon, and Pumbaa alerted them that any Pridelanders could return back to the Pridelands. Though all for the hatchling going back to where he belonged, eventually the two parents found they could not part with them, and so insisted to keep and raise him, then send him on the journey back once they were older. The three agreed and little Itumọ(interpret) gets to spend time with his foster family, including foster brother Mayaƙi(fighter-Hausa).
Continuing with Oasis crocodiles we have leader of his float Riptail/Mpasuko(rip, rupture) from "Simba Rules, OK?". A ferocious croc, he's very territorial over his river to the point where he let the power get to his head and disallowed other animals from crossing his river. Eventually Simba and crew bested him in a fight, snapping Mpasuko out of his power trip and earning his respect and loyalty. He's since become more amenable, allowing others to cross and drink from his part of the river, though still is incredibly fierce.
From the Mbala pride's homeland we have the leader of the float there, Kroko(crocodile-Afrikaans) from "Friends for Life". An irritable and short-tempered, but ultimately good-hearted and helpful fellow, he and his float have had a sort of mutual respect for the local hyena pack, even befriending it's future leader Asante. Though still uncertain about the new Mbala pride members, he is still kind to those who treat him well, even saving Kopa when he gets caught in the current.
Next up from the Timon and Pumbaa Show episode "Never Everglades" we have two alligators turned crocodiles in the forms of Pumbaa Jr/Pumo(breath) and his girlfriend/Onekana(appear). You can read more about Pumo's backstory here, as he's one of many animal species Timon and Pumbaa have adopted over the years, though Pumo and his girlfriend currently live with Riptail's float. And while Timon and Pumbaa will be long gone by the time Pumo and his wife will have kids, Pumo will remember their good deeds and name a few of his offspring after them.
Lastly, in the Pridelands' Crooked Creek, from "What's Up Croc?". To quote the book; "He is the ghost of a mighty crocodile who died many rains ago, and who lays in wait for any unsuspecting passers-by. And when one is coming by, then he takes them in his mighty jaws, and wrenches them apart limb by limb before swallowing them whole." So yeah, Mambo Croc is a legendary ghost/cryptid who haunts Crooked Creek. Crooked Creek itself borders along the Outlands and Pridelands, and is a rather swampy area that seems to get a lot of mist and steam from the nearby hotpots. Many a foolish or brave animal has been dared to enter into the swamp in the early morning or grey twilight, to see if they could spot the mysterious creature. Some have claimed to see a massive, yet skeletal crocodilian figure in the shadows, it's face gaunt and hollow, it's teeth sharp and point, and the body as pale as bone. Those who did see it also say they remained hiding before building up the courage to flee. Those who made it out that is. Of course, the Pridelands, being as old as it is, is no stranger to ghost stories and cryptids. To any skeptic they will claim that what those who claim to see was Mambo Crocodile was actually a decaying tree trunk or some other animal playing a prank. As reasonable as those assertions are, why is it that the local crocodile floats avoid this place like the plague, refusing to even speak about the story and place? Perhaps something sinister slinks through the stale waters and mists of the place, something best left to fester and vanish, much like the mists itself.
