about
Mad Sun was a single done for Musical Tragedies in Nuremberg. At the time they owned one of the last functioning shape-disc presses in Europe, and did a series of sawblade-shaped 7" with one celebrity artist ( in this case Alice Cooper) and an unknown one (MP). A success, this eventually came in 3 different colours (red, yellow and blue), totalling a little over 1000 copies.
lyrics
MAD SUN (Sæther)
With your painted lips and your amphetamine eyes
you could spellbind any man to see sunshine in your lies
but I have seen you way too many times before
and I’ve seen you crying, knocking on your boyfriends backdoor
and that light, that ain’t sunshine babe,
It’s your lifelight burning down
There’s a mad sun burning on that azure sky
but those are deep pools and bottomless hollow lies
that breathe to life the memories of your childhood glades
and that rends the beauty from your face and paints you grey
and that light, that ain’t sunshine babe,
it’s your lifelight burning down
would you care if I told you how I feel?
was that look I saw even halfway real?
would you laugh and just leave me here to wish?
too proud to bend, I would only crash and burn like a
mad sun

Bertrand Marchal
Another cinematic, retro-futurist concept album from the Nashville prog titans; a high-decibel rock opera of the highest possible caliber. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 15, 2026
Jo Hirabayashi's first record in 8 years is an existential exploration that sounds like if Elliott Smith had jammed with Brian Eno. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 10, 2026
