Mons - Off

In this project 15 monsters were illustrated by hand, inspired by Medieval art. In Medieval illumination the light seems to radiate out from the objects. This is evident not only in the heyday of Flemish and Burgundian illumination, but also in works from the late Middle Ages, like Mozarabic illuminations, a play of violent colour contrasts between yellow and red or blue. They were called Mons - off because they reject conventional beauty standards which define monsters as ugly.
