Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu

As part of a mysterious contract agreed upon by a goddess and his parents years ago, Makoto Misumi finds himself sent to another world to meet the goddess and become the hero. However, the deity deems Makoto to be "hideous," refusing to even lay eyes upon him and revokes his heroic title. Disdainfully giving him the ability to understand all languages except the human language as compensation, the goddess drives Makoto off to the farthest edges of the wasteland, far from human civilization.

Due to the disparity between Earth and this new world, Makoto's inherent physical and magical capabilities awaken, making him extremely powerful. He meets various demihumans and mythical beings who all end up being captivated with his characteristics and join Makoto in building a new community where all of them can peacefully coexist.

Nevertheless, despite this success, Makoto still yearns to meet fellow humans. In a world where the goddess herself has barred him from interacting with his kind, it is up to Makoto and his companions to fulfill his desire—and perhaps reform society along the way.

The kingdom builder isekai without the wait. 7/10

TL:DR; Slime's ramp without the pesky need for realism. The power fantasy from [enter favorite isekai here]. It even has waifus - without the Re:Monster filth. This is a great alternative to Reincarnated as a Slime if it felt too happy-go-lucky and Isekai Slow Life if it felt too shallow. Effectively, you see a lot of known tropes, but they're adopted in a way that really feels different.


The Review:
At a high level, this is a great option for those looking to dive into a world and find out what would happen if you could build a kingdom ... in a vacuum. It's funny and has some nice running gags with very unique waifus. And when I say unique, I mean we've got a wholesome group of girls that are drawn to the MC because they appreciate his values and admire his strength. It is not constant fawning and fan service. Emma is a blue hole in comparison to most isekai waifus - and she's a literal pig (orc).

And really, that's most of what I have to say about it. It really does feel like an alternative to many of the top shows out there. It does comedy, world-building, character development well and has its own vibe. Everything is good, but nothing is the best of the genre in here. It's like they nailed the green ring around the bullseye on just about every aspect of this series. Everything hits, but nothing is a home run. That said, I've watched it twice on my third monitor.

Mixed Feelings

Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy, the isekai that boldly asks: what if our protagonist didn't care about the plot. Makoto is the most bizarre isekai protag I've seen, someone who is deeply invested in the lives of otherworlders and who chooses to live alongside them, yet who could care less about the race war being raged within the other world. I find my fascination with this show to come from that central contradiction; having a decently fleshed out fantasy world and many characters who inhabit it that the audience is asked to become invested in, and a protagonist whose only concerns lie in keeping his friends and ... family safe when he's a literal demigod. It's a bizarre viewing experience, whose tone stays consistent throughout the current run of the light novel, and for me is the quintessential isekai experience, deeply emblematic of the genre's inability to connect the hearts of it's characters with the settings and plots of their stories.

How are bad anime on MAL so highly rated?

The Good:
Feel good, entertaining, funny at times.

The Bad:
Incredibly predictable, terrible characters, no depth to the story, animation and art.

I'll give this a 5 because it made me laugh and kept me a little entertained. Nah, 4 is what it deserves.

... Art and Animation: 3/10
Quality is poor, many freeze frames to show "action". Clearly the budget was low or they overworked animators.

Music: 3/10
Some pieces are clearly random popular OST tracks but with certain notes changed to slightly alter it so as not to sound like a copy.
Others, well, I don't remember them.

Characters: 3/10
They aren't human and they don't act human -- not even the demons and demi-humans. Also, super shallow, and all important girls want to do things to MC. Even enemies **facepalm**.

Entertainment: 5/10
Funny, though nowhere near as funny as Konosuba.
Fast paced, and gives you that one-man world building feeling similar to how the Slime datta ken isekai does.
Except the Slime datta ken isekai does it way, way better.

So, overall, it isn't very good, which means it's bad.
