Shadowverse Flame Arc-hen is the grand finale of what Shaodwverse 2020 started, the epic conclusion to Shadowverse Flame. 148 episodes altogether over the course of 4 years. Hell, its even a a sendoff to the original mobile game as the sequel Worlds Beyond would be adopting the physical card games class system.
And it is a TREAT.
The first animes cast, Flames cast all come toegther to fight the villain who've been in the background and get the answers for the questions that have been building since episode 1 when Wolfram Zerga gave Light the usb and invitation to Shadowverse college. We get double battles,
...
we get more fanservice
Yes, the fated battle that rests on Lights shoulder!
Except, as the gauntlet reaches its end to the final boss...............should it? Should he be carrying this weight? Not for any reason like "are we the bad guys actually", but rather the much more grounded: What kind of person would thrust all this on a 14 year olds shoulders? And more importantly, now that hes in it, what does it take for him to pull through.
And this is where Flame truly shines, its unshakeable core, that while the the stakes are so high it requires two full casts of characters, What's the point of a game if a connection isn't made?
What's the point of the game if it isn't fun?
It's just not a game if you can't truly see the person you're facing. After all, Light has had trouble being accepted all his life up to this point before Seventh Flame because of his awkward personality. Yes, he's different. Draconir is different too. Your opponent will always be different, but to start a game with someone is a form of acceptance.
Shadowverse Flame is a great show. A standout card game show. Its amazing what Cygames and Studio Zexcs pulled off, I can only hope it isnt the last we see of Shadowverse in anime.
