The more I read these comments the better anime I think it was.
I also better understand now why so many generic animes exist.

That was terrible… The only good parts were the animation and art style. What the hell was the flash of memories of Amelia when they were flying away for? That was such a bizarre placement. You don't do stuff like that unless you're going to kill off a character or just after killing them. I was anticipating her getting shot down the whole time.

Anyways… I came off of this series feeling like Akira after he offed Gram, indifferent. This was just beautiful looking garbage. The emotion and character interactions are all stiff and awkward. There's no really feeling of developed relationship between any of them. Saran is the best example of it. He was on screen for like 5 minutes, and they expect anybody to care? There's no weight to the relationship. I don't think I can attrinbute it fully to screen time though because even the relationship with Amelia and the cat, for as long as they've been on screen was like nothing. The flashback to Akira's youth was the only part that made me feel anything.

The MC's struggle coming to terms with killing went on for way too long. Like it started to seem silly in the face of how villainously evil Gram was, and the MC's monologues started to become pretty tiresome (and I had to watch this final episode in two sessions because it was too repetitive).

The first half of the season was fun otherwise though, and Night and the Demon Lord's daughter are interesting characters.

Phew he did it! he's finally an official assassin the creed would be proud but it has to be done regardless as someone like gram is irredeemable so there's no other choice, I hope this anime gets another season as there are still story about the journey of his classmates that doesn't have much screen time anyway this anime was pretty good and I enjoyed its premise even though it's not new or something story wise.

Out of the 5 available LNs so far, the anime has covered :

Eps 1-4 : LN 1

Eps 5-7 : LN 2 (less some downtime content) + a bit of LN 3's start

Eps 8-12 : LN 3 + a bit of LN 4

The anime's stopping point was as I predicted, since anything more would not have fit into this 1 season. Although, I was a bit disappointed they didn't tease or foreshadow more future events/characters beyond

If S2 is ever made, I can see them covering LNs 4-5 since it

WN/LN 6 is still a work in progress on Syosetu; the author currently updates WN chapters weekly and has promised to do their best to see the story to the end.

@zz2000 Thank you for sharing this breakdown

The conflict would have been fine if it wasn't dragged for so long and the bad guy wouldn't have been so hilariously evil.
This looks like a prologue or something, but it was very dragged.

It was an alright anime. For me personally, the romance was better than the action. The fact that Akira and Amelia were direct with their feelings, and not beat around the bush for the whole season, is what I like compared to other generic anime like this (The fight on the rooftop was well animated though). I liked the art style as well.

And at least he stuck to his conviction at the end there and went through with the assassination, cause if he didn't, it would've been a waste of 10 episodes of buildup. I think this is one of those 1 season animes, so I don't expect another season. But if it somehow gets one, I'll give it a watch. W ANIME!!🔥🙌✅️

Definitely the worst show this season, I even need to watch in 3x speed just to get it over with.

It's one thing if MC is trying to kill an innocent or a nice person but necessary to kill, but he's essentially having a mental breakdown over killing someone who tries to kill his girlfriend and a lot of random people. Fucking dumbass

1/10. Not even Amelia's tits can save this shithole.

Just so annoyed by the final few episodes "love" aspect and especially the "I don't wanna be a killer" shtick. It just felt so forced, especially the killing stuff

Not really interested in a second season

Come on! MC killed hundreds of monsters, some maybe conscious. And somehow hesitates to kill absolute evil piece of shit who murdered his friend, and directly threatens his wife. Even weak people do crazy things when they need to protect their loved ones, but our MC selfishly cares more about his humanity and puts his wife in danger.

Way too much needless, nauseatingly moralizing drama, over half the cour or so, about whether Akira should kill that bastard Gram or not. While barely batting an eye about killing that other assassin and (I think) Gram's three boosted guards.

So the issue was not killing per se but assassination specifically? Is killing people okay but not killing them in their sleep? So what if he'd killed Gram while defending against his goons earlier? Would that have been perfectly okay?

The importance or not of the killing MO was never raised, in either this episode or the entire second half of the cour, where excessive screen time was wasted wanking around that canal city and brooding whether to kill Gram or not. Gram specifically, no one else.

Therefore, since the moral compass of Akira et al is all over the place, it looks like the Gram killing issue was irrelevant to morality, and was just a cheap and convenient, filler-like way to base the plot on. Nothing more, nothing less.

This was a nicely animated anime that was let down by a terrible script. Now I don't know if this was the fault of the author or the writers who adapted it for anime. The fact is it doesn't matter in the end. After waiting eleven weeks for it to get better I am so over this. I sincerely hope there is no second season as the animators did nothing wrong and their efforts should be directed towards something worthier of their talent.

I was gonna crash out when they didnt show it and he started his rant to Amelia. At least he actually did. The show really went downhill because they tried to put this mental struggle that just didn;t work because of WHO the target was. If they had just made Gram less of a unredeemable POS then maybe it would have worked. Akira's dilemma makes sense because he is regular human, killing is something he never saw as something he'd ever do until coming there. So I get that, and I appreciate that at least.

I like the animation of the last episode at least.
6/10 season.

The "moral dilemma" is still stupid. You know what's more shameful than returning to your family and admitting that you killed a human trafficking murderous corrupt lord when you were forcefully stranded in another world? Returning home to you family and admitting that while you absolutely had the ability to kill someone so evil, you decided to leave them alive to victimize thousands more people because you think that killing is icky.

I'm just glad that they didn't do a fake out after they cut away from the assassination. Though having him actually go through with it makes the previous 4 or 5 episodes a lot of wasted time.

it wasn't an easy decision to make, but in the end, it was his call & what his gut was telling him to do regardless of what others are saying. it was a necessary hurdle to overcome to hopefully propel him to grow up.

super trash way to finish off a pretty trash seasonal anime, instead of leaning into the one redeeming quality of the anime with an epic final fight, they end it off with some moral dilemma bullshit which we shouldnt even care about because A: the villain is made completely irredeemable literally depicted killing people for sport and entertainment, and B: main character literally kills a completely random other assassin minutes prior to showing up at the villains bedside, which he didnt even feel a tiny bit pressed about.

I really appreciate the visual presentation, since most new animes nowadays look really bad.
The anime style and the character design was really beautiful.

Akira and Amelia were a super cute couple, Latticenail lol

show started as Shield Hero, but did everything a bit better from then.

I would like to see more of it 80/100

I fanally finished it. I didn't like how the anime promised a story with twists, good animation, and classic art style, delivering instead a work with generic characters fawning over the protagonist, a simple story that doesn't work, the protagonist has no challenges that the magic shadow can't solve, his only dilemma was a poorly explored drama that seemed like was filler

Some of you might be wondering what is going on with the summoning plot and Retice's king, since there's still so much left unexplained by season's end.

The issue is that this plotline is only answered in LN/WN5, while the anime only covers LNs 1-3 (and a bit of 4).

Theoretically, a S2 should be well-paced to give those answers. But since I don't know the likelihood of Assassin's Status ever getting a S2, I've decided to place the answers of the summoning mystery below for those wondering what that whole plotline was about. Readers have been warned.

@ShoupyDoo As promised, the spoilers have been posted (very late due to RL stuff, I apologise).

Motive of the summoning

The mastermind of the scheme

The human king’s involvement

The plan

Frankly, to be completely honest about this story, I didn't like it. I really didn't like it because the pace is weird. Really weird. Plus, I feel like they tried to cram too many elements into this story. There are too many elements that don't connect with each other for it to be a decent storyline. It really seems like they took bits and pieces from other elements, other stories of the same genre, and mixed them into this story. And it doesn't work. It doesn't work. Why bother racking your brains so much only to end up doing exactly what everyone didn't want you to do? Well, everyone. Rather the wrong choice. And in this case, it doesn't really matter. So why did we torture ourselves mentally for five episodes? No impact. Then again, if there's going to be a season 2, why not? But honestly, don't rush it. Anyway, I think this is one of those stories that will end up in the graveyard of sequels that never happen.

Beautiful visuals with subpar story and characters. The show also has an identity crisis; it wants to be so many genres combined, a drama, a romcom, a thriller, an Isekai, a philosophical deep dive into what it means to be an assassin lol; what a pretentious dog shit of a show; the author being so high on his own supply of farts with this kind of writing...

A switch and bait, that was the entire show... Spending half a season moralizing your assassin role like a retarded child, when your target has ZERO ZERO redeeming qualities??????? You know the author is bad when the villain of the arc is goofy, insufferable and we have to find a reason not to kill him or stop his plans, when every other characters adjacent to the MC BEGS HIM to do it, because it would be a net positive to the kingdom....

5/10 for visuals and atmosphere. Barely a 5.

You know, I kind of got disappointed. He finally decided to kill that guy, but even after doing it, he still felt regret. I mean, come on… the slow character development is really annoying. The art style was really good, but we didn’t actually see many fight scenes. This show had so much potential, but I feel like it got wasted. And with no announcement for a second season, it really feels like this is the end…

Still, Amelia is one of the cutest elves ever. bye bye Amelia

Well this was a lame excuse of an anime.
it's main goal was to pvssyfied even more the male Japanese population. End off.
An "assassin" that takes until the very end to do what he needs to do, to someone who's despicable beyond words, and even then the anime want's us & the MC to feel guilty for doing what needed to be done?! Nah fam, frak that!
This show had promise, started good and quickly went off a cliff!

The art style was great and I like Amelia and Latty but otherwise this show was garbage. The writing is way too dogshit to tackle any romance, moral dilemmas or anything else it "tried" to do. It's insane how much time it wasted over the MC killing. I'd take a bland edgy isekai MC over this guy any day.

Very pretty show, but pretty mediocre animation.
I can also appreciate that the relationship didn't devolve into a harem, they actually committed to each other.
Its obnoxious how much time they wasted moralizing not killing the guy who they basically described as MegaHitler + Stalin

I was debating giving it 6 or a 7... and at the mid point I decided that if he actually does it himself without any 'oh the bad guy kills himself with his own attack after tripping or something' that I would give it a 7...

So... 7 it is...

But really, its not on firm grounds.

The falloff of this anime was insane, we had at least 6 episodes of trying to decide to kill or not kill an absolutely irredeemable character and somehow the characters is juggling between killing that f**kr for ages and changes his mind a couple times. The MC writing and direction of this anime really downgraded the entire season; other than that, I enjoyed it. This is no better than a 6/10 tho, because it really ruined the experience.
Half the anime It's thinking of killing the corrupt bad guy who killed your friend, is trying to kill you and kidnap your lover and sell her off we trolling or what? might be ragebait, the author brain needs to checked.

I feel this show could've been sooo much better than what we got. The foundation is solid but there's so much wasted potential.

I get what they're trying to do with Akira, but it's just taking way too long and doesn't really work in the end:
There can absolute be a moral and ethical dilemma discussed about killing, especially ones first kill and what path it might potentially lead you down.
*But* when this dilemma is in regards to someone who's trying to kill you and turn your spouse into a rape-slave, it quickly stops being a dilemma and becomes self-defense.

The show tries to be clever by setting up this entire spiel, and then falls flat on own its face when it sets up this absolute vile and evil scumbag Gram as a focal point for said dilemma.
It just doesn't work, and not only does the writing no longer look clever, but still forcing the dilemma in this situation makes it looks stupid and nonsensical: If you don't kill Gram in this situation, you are frankly a f*cking idiot.
You're not the Lawful Good Paladin trying to save the starving urchins from corporal punishment because they stole to survive, you're the Lawful Stupid Paladin who's saying "no men left behind" as you save the prisoners on death row from a raging inferno thats currently destroying the prison, resulting in further death and suffering from said saved evil prisoners down the line. Good jurb Paladin, good jurb!

It also feels that halfway trough the season they also seemingly abandoned what little overarching plot there was. Remember that thing about the King being evil and the Demon Lord perhaps not being evil? No? Well the show doesn't seem to either...

I'll give it a (weak) 7/10, mainly due to the art, Amelia and the fact that he did kill Garm, even if it was off-screen.
@MinscS2 I can't believe the author is a smart individual with this level of writing ngl

Alright, I finally sat down and watched the final 4 episodes. I did like it. Basically, Jinshi became an assassin (yup, it took this long to notice it was the same VA).

Visuals? Stunning. Amelia? Perfection! The ads about the game? Too ubiquitous. They are everywhere, telling me to complete watching the whole thing!

One thing I didn't like is the typical thing from most adaptations: They leave it open, as if it were an arc or something. It feels very incomplete, then again, I should continue the manga or the LN to see how it goes. Typical, as I said before. Though a second season with that level of animation will be nice too.

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

kinda dissapointing tbh.
it took 12 episodes for him to finally kill someone other than monsters.
and we didn't even see the aftermath of his killing.

not to mention he's been overpowered by many people despite the title suggest.
if he, a stronger class than hero can be easily overpowered by a second rate demon, how are they gonna fare when they fight against first rate demon or even demon king?
I feel like being duped by the title.

One of the better isekais that I watched in recent times. The animation was top tier, the characters were not that bad, probably except the hero party as usual I guess.
The whole I don't kill is such a drag to see, mostly because the targets are all simply evil, there isn't any reason why he hesitated all the time.
Wouldn't mind a 2nd season or a 3rd if I'm honest.
One point that I really liked and was pleasantly surprised is the romance bit, a tad to fast paced, yes, but it was there, it was palpable and it didn't bring the women of the episode to the harem, a simple one on one with the two MC's.

It's annoying how blatantly obvious they make the right choice be for Akira but it takes him half the season to decide. To top it all off, he ends up killing some random other assassin who would have done the job for him?! Imo that ruined any emotional contemplation he did beforehand since he indiscriminately killed that guy for no reason...
@Re_Pollster
He probably didn't kill the other assassin, from the story so far he isn't the type to kill without thinking about it first.
