To be clear an AMV is NOT an Anime opening or ending or anime soundtrack. An AMV is something that you or other fan crafted

Yeah i've heard Gurren it's very good. And come to think of it i haven't watched a mecha in a long time. My last one was maybe Darling in the Franxx like 4 years ago, never was very into the genre.
But I used to be a fan of Burst Angel when i was in high school

I have fond memories of this one, although this is a re-upload and the original creator is long-forgotten (One-Punch Man x "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" by Daft Punk)

This one fits hilariously well (Great Teacher Onizuka x "One Beer" by MF DOOM)

This one was made back in 2011 and has been copyrighted and re-uploaded multiple times since; the definition of "certified hood classic" (Dragon Ball Z x "In The End" by Linkin Park)

This one actually originated from NicoNico, the Japanese equivalent of YouTube (Dragon Ball Z x "F" by Maximum the Hormone)
Some of you never watched Bakugan Battle Brawlers on TeleToon in 2008 and it shows.

Trying to find one favourite would be impossible, there are so many different genres and approaches.

My two favourite Kevin Caldwell videos:

My two favourite Aluminium Studios videos:

Two more Lain videos which I love, one is called 'Stasis' and I can't find it on Youtube, the other:

Magamom is probably my favourite creator, these are my favourite of his:

Also A whisper of the heart (part two of his Air trilogy) which isn't on Youtube.
If there's a rival here, it's Chiikaboom. Favourite videos:

And Imagica, which isn't on Youtube.
Favourite upbeat video:

Favourite Qwaqwa thing:

Favourite action AMV:

A classic stupid comedy video:

Other favourite Evangelion video

There are four great Animegraphy videos, my favourite is the first, though 2014 is only a whisker behind:

I find it curiously hard for Utena videos to work, but this one finally nails it:

And some other brilliant videos:

I feel like this is still the best AMV I've ever seen and at this point it's probably older than a lot of the members on this site. I'm pretty sure I originally stumbled upon this when I was directly downloading AMVs from Animemusicvideos.org around 2004-5.

It pretty much does everything right for me and avoids the two biggest pitfalls soooooo many AMVs have done for the last... geez decades plus. It actually lets scenes play out and also doesn't have any needless, dumb and overused filter effects. It feels like so people when they make an AMV just add a million jump cuts every second and plaster the screen with so much junk you can't even see what's happening. But best of all though it just tells a story using the scenes from the movie and the song matching up amazingly well. It hits that great balance of wanting to make you want to watch the source material, but also being satisfied with just watching this as well as giving the main feelings you'd want from it without having to rewatch the entire movie.

This AMV is just cool. One of the best anime movies ever matched up with a great song that fits.

This is the one "modern" AMV that I remember really liking. And what do you know, no jump cuts and crap thrown all over the screen.

Really digging this Evangelion AMV. I love how the editing switches between NGE and the Rebuilds. Really respectful of the source material.

@Logopolis "I find it curiously hard for Utena videos to work"

Really? Half my playlist is Utena AMVs, I feel there's a ton of really crazy high quality AMVs for it. People dropping one banger or leaving, or making almost exclusively Utena AMVs.

/!\ DISCLAIMER: massive Utena spoilers in all these videos, watch at your own risk. /!\

bewarethejubjub is great. Bunch of great Utena AMVs.

The song really suits Maison Ikkoku and this video sums up the entire story of the show.
