Club News
4 more months until the end of the year, and 2018.
To finish off the year, we have some "events' planned.
Here's a preview of what will come up:

For September, we will have mystery cards. If you don't know
what that is, then it'll be a mystery to you until it's opened.
I haven't decided how many time it'll be opened (at least 1)
as well as whether or not it'll continue beyond September.

October features Halloween at the end of the month as usual.
So that means Halloween-related events. The question is,
what kind of event will it be? We could do another trick-or-treat
like last year. Maybe go hunting for stuff like kids do with candies.

November....most likely nothing. Thanksgiving is an American
holiday but even then, the only thing that people do on that day
is getting fat by eating a shit ton of food. Or drink and get a hangover.
We may have something but that's to be decided during October.

December, the month of Christmas and the start of the winter holiday.
Should we be nice with the events? Or be naughty and have extra fun?
Just a little warning though: w/e we decide to do, it won't be that easy.
You members will have to do more than just post to get free stuff.
Even if we're nice with the events, we won't be that nice.

I've re-opened the club discord for anybody interested: https://discord.gg/E996bx5
However, don't expect it to be as active as other discord servers.
With plenty of things to deal with, I cannot be on discord all day.
The same goes for the staff. The main purpose of discord is for those
who want to have a convo and not wait for people to respond on MAL.
Some people may want to have convos with us staff from time to time.
However, whether we're on or not will depend on RL, just like everyone else.

That said, if you need me for anything, tag me. If I don't respond within
15 minutes, then that means I'm busy and I'll respond back when I'm free.

There are 5 things you shouldn't bother suggesting, 4 of them I hear too much of.
It's basically there to see if anybody has suggestions on how to get the club more active.

Club News

In terms of club activities and works, just the same stuff as usual.
As for this NL, I'll keep it short this time compared to the others.

If you requested in the Gothic Lolita edition, then you're aware of how
many editions I'll be done on top of others. Therefore, I expect some of you
to at least have some decency to keep the club active. Use the club comments
more often, get the games more active, or w/e you think would help the club.
Or hell, join the staff so you can really help the club out and get some benefits

I get it, those of you that are interested in joining do not want to join as a Card Maker,
Hell, some of you have expressed your interests in a non-Card Maker position before,
Now, I have no problem opening up those positions. I haven't exactly figure out all the positions
I may need. On the top of my head, a deliver, game maker/master, club moderator sounds nice.
Maybe a discord moderator? Only if enough people are interested will I re-open the club discord.
If you have an interest in any of those positions or any that I didn't list, send me a PM.

For those interested in card making, it doesn't matter if you're inexperienced/new.
As long as you're willing to help out and stay active, you're more than welcome to join.

Now, is this a subtle message of me trying to get more staff members?
Maybe, but it won't change anything if I'm working by myself for the rest of the year.

I do question on why I don't get people applying. Is it because the club isn't as active?
Or maybe there were people out there telling others to not apply because they say
I'm some kind of tyrant leader. Gee, I didn't realize that making sure people are doing
what they're supposed to be doing and being responsible makes me a bad leader.
Oh well, w/e the reasons is, it probably won't matter much.

Yeah yeah, I know I said that I planned to close down the club in April 2018
But, it can be 100% avoided if I can get some help when that time comes around.
More help = less resources and ideas used = easier to spread out things to do.
Simply put, I would prefer to keep the club open, but I can't if I run out of things to do.

Club News
As you guys know, my current plan is to close down the club next year.
That remains the plan atm, unless I get some miracle working and I get
plenty of help to the point I don't have to work as much yet still keep it active.

That's why I haven't closed down the staff recruitment thread yet.
Although considering what I wrote in the last NL, I doubt anyone would apply.
Not that it matters though, since I've been a solo act for a long time now.

Moving on from that, since I'm working by myself atm, despite what
the number of staff members says on the club's main page,
there won't be anything happening besides the usual stuff this summer.
Hell, there might be stuff happening less despite on what happens IRL.
Because of that, I don't expect anymore newsletter to be written till after summer.

On a side note, I had a huge rant written on to be posted with this Newsletter.
But I thought to myself, first off, most of you guys wouldn't be able to understand it.
And second, it doesn't affect most of you but it does overshadow you good members.
Maybe one day, I'll really say what goes on in my mind every time I visit the club.

However, I will give a warning, if you can even considering it a warning.
I plan to incorporate more of my RL personality. That means no more sugarcoating.
If I something on my mind I really want to say (besides that rant), I will say it.
That means being blunt and as much as needed. It's fun for me anyways.

I will drop more profanity including F-bombs and S-bombs. All of you guys are old enough
to handle it. If I do things that you guys don't like, then oh well. Not my problem.

I will become more sarcastic and roast people if I can. But it's all just for fun, no harm intended.
But if you are a jerk/douche to me, be prepared to get hit with a barrage of insults.
I'll throw sexual innuendos whenever possible although I'll only do it to those that can handle it.
Granted, it is a lot harder to do on the internet but hell, I can make it happen.

But in spite of all of that, that's just half of my personality. The other half is what you see right now.
I can be helpful, I can be generous. I'm the party of my group IRL, where I make things more fun.
Got a problem you're dealing with? I'll be more than happy to help you out as much as I can.

So what's the whole point of all of this? It may be my last year with this club.
So I figured, why not show members who I really am? I don't get to talk to people much on MAL.
Honestly, it'd be nice to get some convos going. It gives me another reason to visit MAL besides the club.
But it really doesn't matter to me. Still got plenty of people to talk to outside of MAL.

Anyways, that's what's on my mind atm besides my rant. And something to fill up the NL.
If anybody's interested, my Discord is bobaflavored#4168. I put this out because besides
getting a convo or two in with me if you feel like it, it may be a faster way to get mistakes done.
Obviously, I have to be at home to do this and not really busy with my games.

Club News

On April 2, 2018, 5 years after opening, I will be closing down Myouren Temple.

So about 11 months from now. This is a decision I've been thinking about since January.
As some of you have seen, almost all of the stuff done in the club is done by me nowadays.
There's a limit of how much I can do and right now, I'm reaching that limit.

But it's more than just that. The club has been running longer than I originally planned.
My intention when I created this club with Kuroyu was 2,3 years and then do something else.
A lot of things happened in the past 4 years so far. Lots of good things, lots of bad things.
I've made great friends, I've made some enemies, I've done things I love. I've done things I regret.
My passion for card making has been flipping like a switch. My leadership in the club isn't the best,
sometimes thinking that my way is better. My immaturity sometimes kicks in, resulting in bad consequences.

Under all of that, there is one constant: my goal to keep the club active and alive for as long as possible.
Next year, when the club hits 5 years of existence, I can finally say that that goal has been achieved.
However, it does come with a price. I've lost contact with some of my best staff members.
Former staff members may see me as a bad leader. Members may see me as unapproachable in terms of social.
I've lost sleep, free time, resources, etc. I've made a good amount of bad decisions I wish I could do-over.

In the end though, I'm more than satisfied with how the club has turned out throughout the years.
This club has a good amount of stuff that makes us who we are as a club, such as our Collection series.
And then there's things like Past Editions, Custom Cards, Loyalty Cards, a variety of editions and claims
even though we started out as a Touhou & Youkai club. Hell, the Staff Card Competition was a fun thing to do.
Hell, we might be the only club to change our OMC and OMB twice in one year c:

There are some things I do wish things went differently. Club activity would be the main thing.
Even during the early days of the club, we've always had problems getting members to be active
that doesn't include editions and games. Most of the club comments were us staff talking or opening things.
I also wished we could've done more events. While we did have some, we definitely had the ability to do more.

Despite all this unfortunate news, the club will still run as normal,
I'll still continue to do my things like the Kantai series, editions, etc, with or without a staff.
A friend has told me why not get new staff member so that I can keep the club running.
I can't force anyone to apply and even if I do get new ones, with the amount of stuff I've been doing since 2013,
I don't know if I have the energy to keep on doing what I do after 5 years of running this club.

So yeah, this news won't be good for some of you members, especially long-time ones.
But, I do request everyone to visit the club as much as they can. Even if there's no activities
anywhere else in the club, if I see people posting in threads such as card editions, it works for me.

I guess, the only thing left to say is: less than 11 months to go.
