Long time anime enthusiast (started roughly around 2006). I don't watch anime that often, but my preferred genre is romantic comedies. If you count Pokemon as an anime then it is the first I ever watched. If not then Bleach, Cowboy Bebop, and Sousei no Aquarion made a big impact on what I watched. What really won me over on the romantic comedy genre was Baka to Test and School Rumble. Started simulcasting anime in 2011 (as evident of the "favorite anime of" section).

My "Favorite Anime of" section is based not on overall rating, but on the enjoyment I had while watching it. The anime I've chosen I typically either watched during it's airtime, or after it finished airing that year. One primary example is Hunter x Hunter (2011). It was one of my favorite anime of 2011-2014, but it aired for a long period of time making it slightly difficult to categorize in a given year. Also, I put two-to-three anime on the list because for every year there are at least four or five anime that are very enjoyable. "Runner-up" sounds a little more pretentious than just a number.
