Dialogue Prompt

“Do you have any clue what you just did?”

“Well, now you mention it, I’m thinking that pressing the big red button with the words ‘DO NOT PUSH’ in all capital letters above it was a bad idea. But hey, did you know that the color red apparently makes people hungry? I was hungry when I pressed it, so, I mean, you can’t really blame me. Right?”

“You turned me into this!” He pointed an accusatory finger at her.

She, on the other hand, was unfazed. She only had a look of mere annoyance as she pretended to examine her nails. “You wanted it.”

“I did not! I only asked—”

She was in front of him suddenly. “For something that normal mortals can’t attain. For you to live long and prosperous. I gave you that.”

The trees rustled in the wind. The only other thing that could be heard were his short, huffed breaths of indignation and the light hum she gave as she watched him.

“I don’t believe in hitting women,” he finally exclaimed, raising his dark eyes to meet hers.

She arched a brow questioningly.

“But for you, I can make an exception.”

He’s on her in an instant, but she is far older, faster, stronger. Kicking him off is a breeze, and so is pinning him to the ground by his throat. “I could always shove a stake into your heart, if you want me to. If you think this is too much for you. If you hate it as much as you claim.”

He’s unsure of where she got the makeshift stake from, a tree branch pressed against his chest where his no longer beating heart is. He doesn’t need air, not anymore, but he’s still not used to not inhaling as she presses a hand against his throat.

“Stop struggling or I will do as I say and stake you.”

He tries to do the same move of kicking her off as she did him, but it doesn’t quite take. He stops when he feels the sharp edge of the branch dig in just a tad, trying to remember that he doesn’t need to breathe anymore. He wasn’t a human. And yet, he still inhaled when she eased the pressure off of his throat. His eyes met hers, hatred spilling over his words as he spoke. “You’re a monster.”

She glared down at him for a moment, disgust in her expression. “You’re still a fledgling. You can’t tell me that you actually weren’t aware of what you were asking when you asked me. Did you know what I was?” Her voice grew lower as she leaned down to catch his gaze.

He only managed a nod, to which she scoffed.

“And you’re upset that I did what you asked me to do? What you practically begged me for?”

“Immortality seems like a long time. I didn’t exactly take into account how absurdly long it is. You see people and society change, you experience centuries, your loved ones all die unless they’re turned, you can live long enough to watch the sun burn to a crisp and destroy everything. It’s a lot to handle mentally,” he babbled, obviously overwhelmed by the situation and how the disgust on her face was turning into what looked like pity.

“I can teach you, if you would like. How to be stronger. How to handle immortality better,” she finally offered.

“I think I’d rather you just stake me.”

She let out another hum. “Odd that you would give up what you wished for so desperately without a fight.”

“What can I say? Sometimes what we think we want isn’t what we really want.” He smiled ruefully up at her. “Sometimes it’s not what’s best for us in the long run.” His hands gripped hers suddenly, preparing to shove the branch down into his heart.

She flings it away before he gets the chance, and breaks it in half, then another half, then another, until there’s only twigs. “If,” she begins, eyeing his bewildered expression, “you change your mind about being stupidly and stubbornly suicidal as a new immortal being, do come find me. I will teach you everything I know about being immortal and how to cope with it.”

With that, she was gone. He blinked at the spot where she was and sat up, eyes going from a tree branch high up and then going to where she had just been standing, and then he was gone too.

HEY important, but there's a site called Citron Games which have been taking games off itch.io and uploading it to their site and claiming they're the publisher/copyright holder of them!

I've seen a lot of vns on there from devs I know/follow, but I've also seen some IFs on there as well.

I'd recommend checking the site to make sure your game isn't on there and if it is, issuing a DMCA takedown!

tag-if

in regards to this, under the cut is a list of all the games i found that i knew had a tumblr and have tagged them.

if anyone sees any I've missed then do feel free to add on !!

EDIT TO ADD: the website is fucking Headache Inducingly Ugly so I've only covered IFs for now, I'll check the VN section later / tomorrow
