Guys if you want queer shit written by queers on our own terms you're going to have to start seeking out weird independent media. I'm sorry that's the only place you can regularly find it idk what to tell you, we can't keep acting like there's nothing if we're not getting blockbusters and triple A titles or whatever it is we're waiting around for. The thing you keep saying you want is already being offered for free by one person making a passion project on the internet and you would both benefit enormously if you interacted with it instead of lamenting that the only options we have for representation are pandering afterthoughts from corporate shit

CEO of Epic Games casually says that every AI has instances of creating CSAM and deepfake revenge porn content as if that somehow excuses anything.
wait i dont think he actually said that. Sometimes i get things wrong bc i misinterpret on accident, but it sounded like his sticking point was the open/free parts.
"All Major AIs have documented instances of going off the rails; all major AI companies make their best efforts to combat this; none are perfect," Sweeney continued. "Politicians demanding gatekeepers selectively crush the one that's their political opponent's company is basic crony capitalism."
"I defend open platforms, free speech, and consistent application of the rule of law. The bad stuff people do with AI, I do not defend, but I staunchly oppose the wrongdoing of a few from being used as a pretense to undermine the freedoms of all."
I hate Musk and Grok and what individuals have done to violate others. I also hate the rampant puritanism and politicizing of what people do online. I see a lot of people bandwagoning into one group or the other, but both of those sentiments can and do coexist. And mischaracterizing what someone said in an inflammatory way doesnt help.
People should not have the freedom to make non-consensual sexual images or deepfakes of anyone, but especially children. That's not a puritan statement.
The fact that is publicly available on a social media platform is a problem for society, and goes against the laws of many countries. Countries specifically outlaw the type of content that Grok is producing at the request of Twitter's userbase. Grok is controlled by Elon Musk.
Sweeney is defending AI companies right to continue to produce deepfake porn and CSAM, and dressing it up as an attempt to shutdown his friend's Elon's website. He's specifically calling on AI companies to "shut down every politician's incessant demands to all gatekeepers to censor all of their political opponents."
The 'political opponents' in this situation are people who believe they have the right to make deepfake sexual images and produce sexualised images of minors. These are not political opponents, these are harassers and paedophiles who belong in prison.
btw that trans woman definitely missed out on a lot of experiences her peers had growing up
so invite her. seek her out. include her.
she wants to make new friends but you need to tell her you do too
I don’t know about anyone else but these sorts of headlines frequently make me highly suspicious so I did some follow up research after reading the article. I am happy to say that Green Sea Turtles no longer being counted as endangered is not due to the IUCN or any government shifting the goalpost for what can be considered an endangered species. The only update is, as the article states, an update in surveyed population numbers. Notably the article itself states that the current Green Sea Turtle numbers are not currently at what they historically were when the species was thriving, but this change in status over a relatively short period should absolutely be considered a significant win for conservation efforts and indicates a larger more grounded hope in our ocean ecosystems ability to heal.
Fighting for a better world is worth it and it is not too late.
One of the hardest things to learn as a leftist is that there are a lot self proclaimed leftists that are actually totally cool with abusive social systems, they just don’t like that they’re the ones being abused. The solution to male supremacy isn’t woman supremacy, it’s no supremacy. The supremacy is the bad part. This line of thinking is how you get TERFS and the NOI

i hate that nonbinary people can't be, like, nonbinary.
whatever we do, we can't win. we can't be seen as actually nonbinary. people binarize us and often mock us or get aggressive or dismiss and ignore our nonbinaryhood or something else.
if we don't medically transition, we are "just cis trenders."
if we do medically transition, we are "just [binary trans] eggs."
we are "technically transmasc or transfem anyways" if we don't use these terms.
we are lumped together with binary trans men and trans women if we do use these terms. our nonbinaryhood is ignored or seen as some kind of "gender-lite."
we are aggressively pressured to disclose if we're AFAB or AMAB, TMA or TME, transmasc or transfem, "boy nonbinary" or "girl nonbinary." and if we refuse to answer, people get double mad at us and pick something for us anyways.
if we show the slightest hint of something that could be interpreted as binary gendered, we are immediately binarised.
if we put a lot of effort into looking the most ambiguous or androgynous or neutral, people still try to find something. and they become aggressive. people often EXPLODE [PT: explode] when they can't gender someone by glance.
our ways of expression are constantly mocked and ignored (like neopronouns, nonbinary-centering labels for gender and orientation, basically all things that are associated with nonbinary people).
but if we choose more typical ways of expression (for example, use "he/him" or "she/her" pronouns), people use it to ignore and dismiss our nonbinaryhood.
we just can't win, and it's upsetting.
