Evil Advisor Snape x King Remus AU
I have this whole idea with Severus showing up out of nowhere and presenting the king with a deal, he will make him a wolfsbane potion in exchange for becoming his “most trusted” advisor.
Suspicious from the beginning, but Lupin cannot say no to such a proposal. Out of worry for his kingdom and because Severus is a very powerful wizard.
He is very much suspected to want to take over the throne from the beginning, but there is no way to prove it. He doesn’t poison the potion, he doesn’t try to kill the king in his sleep, he is very good at his politics.
If only Remus didn’t notice how little by little, Severus kept slipping him ideas that could surely break him as a ruler or open the doors to unwanted guests.
Therefore he keeps a close eye on Severus. But that close eye also leads him to become really close to him, the more they talk the more he thinks he understands Snape, and in turn, Severus understands him.
They become really close, completely forgetting their responsibilities around each other, and having a deep respect and understanding toward one another.
THEN SUDDENLY
There is an attempted murder against the king. The only thing that saves Remus is that he is able to wake up in time to avoid the blow of the knife, but he is unable to spot who the perpetrator was.
Immediately all fingers go to Severus, and although Remus doesn’t believe that he did it, he would rather not risk a second tey at his life.
And so the trial begins, except, Severus fights for his life as never before. Offended, even, that he would be considered a traitor.
“I admit that I have come to this castle for selfish reasons. But I would never betray this kingdom.”
Remus tells Severus though, that he knows he came to Remus to kill him (he was working for Voldemort and was tasked with it) but something changed his mind.
It almost seems like Severus would be saved, and then suddenly, he does something unforgivable.
He messes with Lupin’s drink and makes him almost kill someone in his wolf form, then confessed to be the one who tried to kill him the first time. This is a betrayal worse than any other Lupin faced, and in a fit of rage, sentences him to death immediately.
It is only on the day of Severus’s sentence that it suddenly comes out, that Peter was the one who tried to kill him! He was working for Voldemort all along! And that the reason why Snape spiked Remus’s wolfsbane was because he was threatened to be killed my Voldemort anyway! And this was the only way to keep Remus safe.
Remus rushes to Severus’s chamber, but the advisor is unresponsive. He just stands there, watching the outside of his cell.
And Remus starts pleading, telling that he will give Severus anything, everythibg just for him to come back to him.
And then Severus smiles, and he calmly starts petting his hair, like he has done so many times before.
