Watched the first episode of Signals yesterday and knew I had to draw something for it so I drew a design for Alpha!
Signals is a narrative based Minecraft survival series created by Isabox about a weather station operator named Alpha who goes on and adventure to save her friends after a planet wide storm traps them on the planets surface.
It’s a really REALLY cool and well made series that’s genuinely very sweet. As the series progresses I’m planning on designing all the other station operators when we meet them! I highly recommend checking it out!! It right now only has one 20 minute episode and once again ITS SO COOL!!!!!!
First of all, you should watch signals, it's a minecraft series with great storytelling and making good use of what minecraft already has to offer. Also there's only two episodes right now so it would be very easy to catch up.
Second of all, why was there a message for Alpha? Everyone is supposed to be stuck in pre-teleportation stasis, if not for the fact that Alpha's station antenna and main tower were broken, she would have also been stuck in that state. So why does Sierra know that Alpha would come to rescue everyone, why does she know that Alpha was left behind, why does she know that it would be specifically Alpha, why does she know that Alpha would have to rescue people? There's coords written down in a book, maybe if they led to a few locations it would be plausible to assume that it was a just in case thing. But it's not. The coords lead specifically to station foxtrot. Maybe it's just because this is a minecraft lore series, but doesn't that all seem... too good? Planned out even?
AND at the end of Sierra's message she says "You got this Alpha! We're all rooting for you." Hmm. They're all rooting for her, it might be because I like to latch onto details and turn them into stories later, but to me it feels implied that it's not hope that Alpha saved everyone. To me it feels more like hope that she completes her journey. To me it implies the words "rooting for you" imply watching, crossing fingers and wishing good to someone. We know from the first episode a few things about Alpha: she's been here for at least a few months, her microphone was broken and even though a replacement was sent she doesn't replace it, she's friends wirh other stations, she took this job because it meant she could stay alone for a long time. Why doesn't she use the mic? It would help communicating im sure. Well, to me Alpha seems extremely anxious, so that's probably why. It's an extra layer of separation, the words you're reading rn probably wouldn't have left my mind if not for the fact that I'm writing them. In my case it's because I have a small stutter that freaks me out and puts me in an anxious loop, in Alpha's case that nervous loop cannot be stopped.
So maybe others aren't stuck in pre-teleportation stasis, it is slightly far fetched because in the second episode we can see the damages to Sierra's main tower and station, buut... Maybe the teleportation was a success and the damages happened later? We don't know the time frame of everything so it's not impossible that Alpha's antenna was broken first and she hasn't received the evacuation notice on time. Maybe that natural disaster was real, but the other station operators needing rescue was not?
They're all friends with Alpha, she had a mic before and it is implied that she talked through it before it got broken. You can notice if your friend becomes more closed off. Maybe the whole thing about how nobody would rescue the rest because it's too dangerous is fake? A method to get Alpha out off the station and the isolation. I mean come on! She spent so much time alone in the station that she didn't even know how close plains were. It's an intervention in a way, a way to prove to Alpha that she is capable.
That's my current theory, I really really like how this series is looking right now and I can't wait to see more!

I never finished the series back when it was coming out so like, your theory has already been confirmed or denied but I still don’t know the answer. I do distinctly remember thinking these exact thoughts and I feel very validated that I’m not the only one who noticed and started going full conspiracy theorist on Alpha’s friends lmao.
