i go to a gay bar and notice the furry convention's in town. i see a fine lookin bear remove his fursuit, revealing that underneath, he's also a fine lookin bear. I raise my eyebrows and say "woof" and all the cat furries immediately hiss and scatter

I’ve thought of another cute Bruce!Batman and Robin!Dick Halloween scenario, this time featuring reverse robins

So picture this: Damian has fairly recently adopted 8 year old orphaned circus acrobat, Dick Grayson. Bruce is of course thrilled to be a grandfather, but he’s very awkward about it. Not quite sure what to do. He loves his kids, but he’s never been overly affectionate. He was raised by an old school British butler who even himself wasn’t used to outward physical affection or hearing/saying things like “I love you,” so Bruce isn’t the best at expressing his love for his family, but he tries.

Damian adores Dick, of course. But he’s also found that Dick is a great tool to use to get Bruce away from work, because Bruce is wrapped around Dick’s little finger and will bend over backwards to make him happy. Jason and Tim already complain heavily (with love, of course) that Dick is already the favorite of the family. They’re not wrong.

So when it’s Halloween and Batman is in an overly long meeting with the Justice League, and he’s been obsessing over this case for weeks, Damian takes Dick up to the Watchtower and sets him loose.

Dick is having a great time. His new dad told him all about Halloween, got him a super cool Superman costume, came to the Halloween festival at school today and played all sorts of carnival games with him, and now he’s holding Dick under his arm as he stomps along the Watchtower hallway. He’s given Dick a very important mission, and he’s so excited.

“Okay, now remember,” Damian says seriously as he holds Dick up, his lips twitching as Dick’s breathy little giggles, “you need to get Grandpa to come home right away. He’s been up here for a very long time, and he needs to come home so he can have dinner and come trick or treating with us tonight. Think you can get him to come home in under ten minutes?”

“I’ll do it in five!”

“Good boy,” Damian says with a proud smile. Then he sets Dick down and gives him a nudge toward the conference room the JL are currently set up in. “Now go get Grandpa.”

Dick scurries off, his Superman cape fluttering behind him, and he barges into the room with an excited shout of, “GRANDPA!”

Let’s say only Superman and Wonder Woman knew about the latest addition to the Batfamily, so the others are all shocked at the sight of a mini Superman in a domino mask running right at Batman and climbing up his cape to hang from his neck. Batman, who had been standing at the front of the room pointing at a slideshow, immediately moves to hold him so he doesn’t fall.

“Robin,” Batman says, and his voice has gone soft, sweet, very different than the annoyed growl it had been a moment ago. “What are you doing here? How did you get here? Are you alright?”

“Grandpa! Grandpa!” Dick says, ignoring all of Bruce’s questions. “You need to come home now! You promised to take me trick or treating!”

“Your dad is going to take you,” Bruce starts, but Dick shakes his head with a flourish.

“No! You promised you’d come, you promised!” Dick cries, and Bruce immediately starts trying to calm him down. “It’s my first trick or treat, you can’t miss it! You have to be there, you have to! What if there’s monsters, you have to be there to beat them up!”

“Alright, alright,” Bruce caves, trying to ruffle the back of Dick’s hair to calm him down. “I’ll go with you, but you need to go back home.”

“Come with me!”

“It’s still daylight in Gotham, chum,” Bruce tries to say. “We’ll go in a couple hours, after I finish my meeting.”

“No, no!” Dick whines, tugging at Bruce’s neck. “I need to show you what I won at the festival at school and Daddy said we have to have dinner first and, and you need to come right now, Grandpa!”

Calling Damian his daddy and Bruce his grandpa in the same sentence has made what was left of Bruce’s willpower crumble to pieces. He holds Dick close and nods at him, and Dick gives him his sweetest smile in return. His missing baby teeth only tug even harder at Bruce’s heartstrings.

“Okay, chum,” he says, “we’ll go home right now.”

Dick just squeezes his neck in a hug and then drops his head onto Bruce’s shoulder. He plays with the clasps of the cape, poking at them, and waves to Superman and Wonder Woman and everyone else as they leave the room. Bruce doesn’t even say goodbye.

Seeing Damian outside the door makes Bruce pause.

Curses. He’s been tricked again. That’s the sixth time this month.

“Three minutes,” Damian says with a clap. “Excellent work, Robin.”

“Told you I could do it!”

Damian moves to take Dick from Bruce’s arms, but Bruce tightens his hold on Dick and angles him away from Damian.

“You use my grandson to trick me, then I get to hold him as compensation.”

“If that’s what you wish.”

Damian absolutely knew he was going to do that. He does it every time. Dick is always so pleased with himself.

“Grandpa, look at this cool ring I got at school today!”

Dick distracts him by showing him the plastic bat ring he won at one of the game booths.

“It’s a bat! I picked it just for you!”

Bruce is absolutely smitten, and he lets Dick put the ring on his pinky (it’s the only finger it will fit on).

“Thank you, chum,” Bruce says. “I love it.”

“I knew you would!”

That night, Bruce also dresses up like Superman as he takes Dick trick or treating with Damian.

Damian is wearing a bad Batman costume, and Dick giggles every time he looks at it.

They all have a great time, and Damian and Bruce steal pieces of Halloween candy from Dick’s trick or treat bucket after he crashes on the couch.
