I think the part that always gets me about this scene, is knowing Scott was watching the rest of his team get greeted and congratulated by their families and significant others, and Scott only had the team. His parents are gone, his only close friends are on the team and celebrating with their loved ones.
And the only person he wants to celebrate with, the only person he feels like celebrating with, is up in the stands.
You can see the exact moment his resolve kicks in, when he realizes his biggest dream was won and he can't bask in it with the person he loves because of fear, of nerves, of worry. And so he just - looks fear in the face and stomps on it.
