Much Ado About Stuff

@notyourmamasdeerbat

(20 . they/them . Minors please DNI. Okay so it's turning into a Dragon Age blog. Sue me. Dragon Age/BG3/Star Trek/some hope core and art.)

What's Up, Buttercup?

Hey there! Welcome to the lawless frontier that is my blog. My super cool, super secret interweb codename is Batty if you'd like to call me anything other than "friend." 🧡

I write fanfic. I like Dragon Age, dnd, scifi and long drabbles about feelings. You can find me on Ao3 as fruitbatproductions, and I'm just getting started over there. Details and current WIPS are linked below. Stick around if you see something you like!

Drink water, take your meds and fear no darkness! 🥭🦇

at some point in your life you will be boiling fruit, water, sugar, and lemon juice in a pot to make a syrup or jam. the instructions will tell you to simmer for a certain amt of time. your timer will go off and you will look at the pot and go, "hm, this doesn't look thick enough. maybe i'll let it go for another 10 minutes." this is the devil speaking. it's only so liquid right now because it is at boiling point. it will thicken when it cools down. learn from the follies of my youth and do not let this happen to you

at some point in your life you will be making a sauce or a stew in which you need to add cornstarch to thicken it. and you will prepare a slurry of starch in cold water and think "this looks like way too little starch to thicken this amount of liquid." this is the devil speaking. cornstarch instantly polymerizes at 95°C and if you add too much it will turn into an impossibly thick goop.

at some point in your life you will be making some sort of cream based dessert that requires gelatin to thicken it. and you will soak some gelatin sheets in water and think "this is too few gelatin sheets for this amount of cream." this is the devil speaking. it will thicken in the fridge and if you add too much you will end up with milk jelly

it's so fucking funny watching one of the earliest backstory reveals in campaign 2 which is yasha revealing that she's from xhorhas. you'd think by the way the nein reacted that she said she killed her whole family. meanwhile mr. fake accent is hiding an evil pact to snea snake. pop pop fucked off from the cobalt soul without telling anyone and zeenoth had to track her down. wizard hobo is on the run from the magical fbi. the goblin is actually a halfling. blue tiefling is wanted in her own home city. purple tiefling changes his backstory every town they enter. but yasha being a foreigner in the empire is such a shock to them. they're so fucking ridiculous i adore them so much. i'd like to submit the entire cast of the mighty nein to the acting categories of the oscars please. goddamn pathological liars the lot of them

Veilguard fun fact:

I cleared up inaudible dialogue between Varric and Solas back in 2024 in this post, but only now noticed if you go in close enough with the cam, their models actually have full lipsync animation during dialogue that is never even meant to be seen :)

Qunlat Primer

It's not complete or exact, but it's complete enough to be published! Before any of y'all eviscerate me, I did this for the love of the game and nothing more. (And besides, Forbidden Ones aren't infamous for peddling canon knowledge.)

Included is an expanded dictionary, vocab tables, an in-progress phrase book, and some cultural/philosophical stuff. I reconstructed the dictionary by breaking up the root words and affixes, hoping to make it easier for people to both read and write Qunlat.

Enjoy! <3

(This is still in progress, I'm just impatient and impulsive.)

I went to check out of curiosity cause i was like "Solas is trying to Not get attached to the inquisition people so I think he might actually be the only one who doesn't have banters when the inquisitor romances someone else. He just disaproves of inquisitor dating Sera and that's cause the inquisitor brings it up to him." and THIS

This is the one time Solas has a banter about other romance and it's just to blackwall and he starts it and is just to be supportive. im.

a lot of my autism masking is just making myself more palatable for other people and my therapist said "does spock make himself 'more palatable' for others?" and had me promise to keep unmasking like:

I know I'm late on this but may I please have a morsel of Blackwall/Mae 👀

This is for the WIP ask game! Game & answer links are here

Oh yay! absolutely you can, here's what I've got for you...

"Mae!" exclaimed the Inquisitor, pulling away from Dorian to give her a warm hug, and he and Dorian exchanged nods over their shoulders. "I didn't know you would be here!" "I was supposed to have left by now, but-" "-how could she leave, when we have so much work to do? And without seeing you?" Dorian interjected, his voice cheerful, but both magisters had a tightness around their eyes and smiles. Thom shot a glance at Treveylan, who was currently scrutinizing the pair as well. Maybe Aedan was able to glean something from it, knowing Dorian like he did, but for Thom, it just left him with a sense of unease. "But we're being rude," Dorian continued, and he placed a hand at the small of the woman - Mae's - back. "Thom, may I present Magister Maevaris Tilani, of House Tilani. She is the one who put the idea of the Lucerni in my head in the first place, and my dearest friend. Mae, this is Thom Rainier, Aedan's guardsman, and former agent of the Inquisition." "An honor to meet you, m'lady," he said, taking her offered and, with another bow, let his lips press in just the briefest glance against her knuckle. "Dorian told me you'd be coming, but he neglected to mention your manners," Maevaris said, and there was something in her smile that put color on his cheeks. He desperately hoped it would be covered by his beard. "I assure you, I was quite unaware he had any," Dorian said, arching an eyebrow at him. No luck for the beard, then.

Thank you for the ask!
