- lots of hobby learning (languages, cello), academic work (mechanical engineering), & fantasies about the future (art, birding, math, chess).
- #nowtoboldlygo posts for all original posts.
below are my structured plans with lots of links. this specific post will be semi-regularly updated as i evaluate & revise my goals. my directory is fully unabridged (best for desktop).
mechanical engineering 🧑🔧.
i’m starting an associate’s in mechanical engineering in the spring (!), and adding in a lot of self-study.
- khan academy early math review to eighth grade.
- prof leonard (free!!) and math academy’s math foundations ($$$) for high school & calculus (currently here).
- Calculus: Early Transcendentals by James Stewart (rec’d on Susan Rigetti’s beautiful math syllabus [link]), a video course (rec’d by the MIT undergrad syllabus [link]), & arithmetic to precalc review with AOPS [link]
- a general chemistry textbook [link], a computer science course [link], a mechanics physics textbook [link]
spanish, korean, french, italian, mandarin, and more eventually 💭.
i’m using the dreaming method for a full five languages! if you’re unfamiliar, the plan is (1) media immersion for learners (2) native media (3) learning to read & (4) conversation exchange. here’s my profile on lingotrack, and a link to my milestone write-ups. here’s more about the roadmap (to B1 equivalency).
using this structure for all languages:
- complete beginner content for learners (currently here in mandarin!)
- pre-intermediate content for learners, preschooler shows (currently here in korean!)
- intermediate content for learners, super easy native youtube channels, beginner podcasts (here in italian & french!)
- intermediate podcasts, dubbed cartoons, easy native youtube channnels, the news
- dubbed TV, easy native TV (e.g. sitcoms), easy native podcasts
- native movies & TV, conversational native podcasts, graded readers to genre fiction (currently here in spanish!)
- complex literary/genre fiction, historical fiction, tons of conversation practice, learning new/technical material in TL
- formal practice for foreign language certs (HSK, TOPIK, CELI, DELE, SIELE, &c.)
quick links for my TLs:
- ZH: i tag #mandarin notes for all things mandarin-related.
- KO: here’s my recommended korean media for complete beginners. here’s my korean masterlist with a very detailed (too detailed?) study plan. i use #korean notes for all korean stuff.
- IT: some reblogs and bookmarks at #italian notes :)
- FR: #french notes for posts about french!
- ES: here’s my spanish masterpost [with tons of resource links!]. i use #spanish notes for all spanish-related blogging.
