When I say “school should be disability accessible”, I don’t just mean we need handicap rails and EAs. Kids should be able to miss a day without failing out of school. You shouldn’t be dismissed from clubs because your attendance record is “spotty” (true story). I once missed an entire week of school because of a terrible, unending migraine. I was expected to keep up with my studies despite the blinding pain that came with working on my computer. When I heard my teachers say that you couldn’t miss exams, I asked what I would have to do to be excused from them. Their response? “Either get a doctor’s note an hour before the exam or death of an immediate family member.”

I cannot express how rigid this expectation was. First of all, with my condition, I wouldn’t have enough warning about my sickness to go to the doctor and request a note. For many people, this is exceptionally difficult, especially with the current shortage of medical professionals. Next, it ignores the fact that my schedule may not line with theirs because of my medical needs. Once, I had to visit a hospital a province away (which I was on the waiting list of for over a year) on the same day as an exam. I begged my mother not to take me because I was so nervous that I would be marked as an automatic fail. I was lucky enough to make it work, but that’s only because of my spectacular support system consisting of family members and wonderful doctors.

Disabilities aren’t always about needing a bus that can accommodate wheelchairs. It’s already difficult enough for many of us to maintain school attendance without the harsh punishments involved for skipping a day. We need to be able to miss school without being punished. Only than can you claim that the school is “accessible”

April is the Cruelest Month

It's a cold April, full of driving rains that keep you trapped at your desk at the 41st, in between squishy trips out into Jamrock in Kim’s Kineema, which he somehow managed to keep possession of throughout his transfer from the 57th. You're still not sure how he swung that.

AUTHORITY

Godly levels of Authority, maybe?

INLAND EMPIRE

The eyebrow. It’s magic. Kim’s probably magic.

ELECTROCHEMISTRY

We could make magic with Kim. Grab the collar of that cool-ass bomber jacket, pull him closer. DO IT!

HAND/EYE COORDINATION

Fingers sliding up under the edge of his shirt, gripping his ass cheeks, positioning him between your legs. You've done this before, you know the moves—the generalities, if not the particulars.

VOLITION

Now is NOT the time.

SUGGESTION

You have a good thing going. Don't ruin this.

It doesn't feel like a good thing. The damp, dingy basement of the 41st is cramped with cubicles, rickety wooden desks overflowing with paper and a rattling, overworked heater.

PERCEPTION

It smells bitter. Like coffee and cigarette smoke.

CONCEPTUALIZATION

Like a blackened canvas.

Your memories are coming back…slowly. Standing in this room, you feel the pale, sickly spectre of them threatening to engulf you again. Like bile rising in the back of your throat. It all feels so…familiar, and yet you don't remember it at all. Torson and McClain heckle you, and a response comes easily to your lips now.

LOGIC

But is that because you remember how it used to be with them? Or because you've learned how to cover up the fact that you *don't*?

Hey, here's the full set of the brand new Disco Elysium pics!

Prints are available, and maybe these work well in poster format (which inprnt started doing a while ago)?

I'm sad I didn't get to draw any cars, would be nice to do 1 more, but I need to move on...

Also, there has been a promo on all summer at inprnt that might end soon, so these are at 35% off right now!

"CAN YOU STAY?" Disco Elysium fan comics

This game really touched my heart... and gave me so much inspiration... this is my tribute

I want to mention @thirdchildart , her work with visual metaphors was huge inspiration for this comics too, especially that stream where she was talking about visual storytelling in her tma animatic

Disclaimer: This is not an instruction on how to deal with amnesia or the effects of alcohol. I've never drank alcohol and have absolutely no idea what to do in alcohol situations. The situation in the comic is fiction, based on the game lore. If you see someone in similar circumstances, or you experiencing something like this, go to doctor

YOU - "Kim. Do you think we're friends in other universes too?"

SHIVERS - Two cats jump from chimney to chimney, one cleans soot off of the other's face. A willow sways gently next to her birch, their roots tangle together deep underground. Two boys chase each other through the woods with sticks held like swords. An elderly couple solves the day's crossword puzzle over cups of coffee.

KIM KITSURAGI - "That is a very far-fetched idea, detective. Let's focus on the here and now."

Skip Google for Research

s-n-arly

As Google has worked to overtake the internet, its search algorithm has not just gotten worse.  It has been designed to prioritize advertisers and popular pages often times excluding pages and content that better matches your search terms

As a writer in need of information for my stories, I find this unacceptable.  As a proponent of availability of information so the populace can actually educate itself, it is unforgivable.

Below is a concise list of useful research sites compiled by Edward Clark over on Facebook. I was familiar with some, but not all of these.

Google is so powerful that it “hides” other search systems from us. We just don’t know the existence of most of them. Meanwhile, there are still a huge number of excellent searchers in the world who specialize in books, science, other smart information. Keep a list of sites you never heard of.

www.refseek.com - Academic Resource Search. More than a billion sources: encyclopedia, monographies, magazines.

www.worldcat.org - a search for the contents of 20 thousand worldwide libraries. Find out where lies the nearest rare book you need.

https://link.springer.com - access to more than 10 million scientific documents: books, articles, research protocols.

www.bioline.org.br is a library of scientific bioscience journals published in developing countries.

http://repec.org - volunteers from 102 countries have collected almost 4 million publications on economics and related science.

www.science.gov is an American state search engine on 2200+ scientific sites. More than 200 million articles are indexed.

www.pdfdrive.com is the largest website for free download of books in PDF format. Claiming over 225 million names.

www.base-search.net is one of the most powerful researches on academic studies texts. More than 100 million scientific documents, 70% of them are free

A colorful digital illustration of Harry Du Bois with a soft expression on his face against a black background. The right side of his head is split open, showing most of the citizens in Revachol as well as the church. They’re all looking up, a majority of them have smiles on their faces. There are lyrics from the song Under Pressure by Queen placed on the illustration, which read “’Cause love’s such an old-fashioned word and love dares you to care for the people on the edge of the night.” Harry is wearing the cryptid tie Lena gave to him, and the hat Annette gives to him is visible on the right. Maybell flowers fade into the dark background. Behind the Revacholians is a burst of color, the background has a bright disco ball.ALT
