When I say I LOVE nonograms I mean it. I've been playing this for a few days and loving it!! Today I went to do the final boss puzzle and thought I had finished at 100% (witch I did) and my internal copletionist was happy but then found WAY more puzzles to do and a few doors to open.
I can't wait to do every single extra end-game nonogram! Thank you for creating this. <3
After playing this game to "202%" completion I can safely say that this is one of the best nonogram collections I've played. The characters all have character even given the fact that most of them have very few lines of dialogue. I got quite a few good laughs from the jokes and nothing overstayed it's welcome. Congratulations and Thank You Very Much for allowing people to access this free of charge.
You just can't go wrong with a picross/nonagon adventure, and the theme is super cute.
No sound on this PC, but my brain supplied music from Daedalian Opus while I was playing.
And I found on the PC I kept over-scrolling. I'd recommend either implementing 'Frogger' controls (where you have to tap tap tap to move) and/or have fill / X not overwrite existing fill / X spaces (meaning you'd have to clear them first.
I love this game so much, it has so many puzzles and introduces so many nonogram mechanics like symmetry and negative space counting in a really subtle way. I also really like the mix of both hard 12x12 puzzles and easy 4x4 puzzle and the difficulty progression locked behind key items like a metroidvania, The overworld makes the nonograms so much more interactive and allows for much larger options if you get stuck and gives really nice goals to aim for like X fishes or a new teleport location. I loved discovering the little secrets and the few dialogue we do get making me much more invested in the world. I do kinda feel like it would be cool if there were nonogram puzzles with some new rules to spice it up kinda like the sudoku varients like thermometer or shapes but maybe with color or curved lines(unless there are and I haven't found them yet)
Thanks for your kind comment, and I'm so glad you enjoy TaiFab!
All the puzzles in this game are basic black-and-white nonograms. I've actually still never played any colored nonograms yet! I'll have to try some nonogram variants! :D
this game seems super cool!! but the only issue is that i cant get it to work on browser :'<? if anyone knows how to help it would be greatly appreciated !! (Yes, i have tried reopening the game and browser, :'<!!)
Thanks so much for your interest in TaiFab! In order to advance from the logo screen (like in your screenshot), you need to press a game button such as 'Z' or 'Enter' on your keyboard. (I like to give the player as much time or as little time as they want, so you just press the button whenever you're ready. :D )
If the game still doesn't work in your browser, you can also download it for free and play it in an emulator. Please let me know if you need any more help! :)
sorry i'm new to these kinds of games and i was wondering how to run it on a laptop? :0 i love this game sm but i'd like to get the plus version for easy access and saving etc.!!
I'm so glad you like the game and I appreciate your support very much! Thank you for your kind comment!
I personally use BizHawk emulator to play my game, but there are many GB emulator choices out there. 😄 Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to help!
This game is wonderful! I love picross and nonograms and the way you've created a beautiful world and story to hold them is very fulfilling! I can't wait to play the sequel <3
The save is busted now because I was playing with a bunch of mods and I no longer remembered which mods, lol. 😆 But I saved the text! Thanks for your kind comment!
No worries. I was wondering if you have screenshots of what plus gbc are supposed to look like. I'm running them on my miyoo mini plus and don't think I have found the right pallette. Cheers!
Oh wow this is incredible!! I love Picross games and that his such a cute narrative to it <3 The colour palette is lovely too!
I feel like sucha n00b but where abouts is the save button? I tried pressing the "select button menu" which is shift on my keyboard I think. But that brings up a menu of albums? I fully intend to complete this one way or another LOL
I'm so glad you like the game so far! 😄 Thank you!
The select button menu for saving is only in TaiFab+ (the deluxe version of the game). If you are playing the free version, you can save in the area on the right from the starting point of the game. Talk to the floppy disk in front of the building. 🙂 💾
I'm only a little way in but I really like this so far! I enjoy nonograms but a lot of games that are just an endless series of them feel a bit directionless, so I love that here they're anchored in an overworld. Also, the way you can just find puzzles lying around in weird places brings me back to the Professor Layton games, which I adored as a kid and I think were largely responsible for my love of puzzles.
So, it's been weeks since i didn't solve the puzzles but now i finished the storymode (the one with 7 fish sense). But i got the bonus puzzles, i enjoy solving some of the puzzles, half of the puzzles, i need to think about it.
You know, most of the puzzle i use my 100% of my brain cells just to solve most of the puzzle. To be honest i am very dumb at puzzles like this (without heart/lives), but i actually watched tutorials on YouTube just to get answers (including this one, of course).
But overall, i still like it even though i was struggling. I will try my best to solve other puzzles (i still don't know about the ducks).
Sorry for the rambles about this game (from the comment month ago) and i hope you're having a great day!
I love this game!! I'm only a few hours in, but I've been having so much fun exploring the world and solving puzzles. It's a great mix of difficulties. This is also the first indie game I've played on my Anbernic!! I've really enjoyed being able to play this handheld and it runs great!
Thank you very much. I really like nonograms (this actually prompted me to write a solver).
I'm stuck at 196. The missing ones are the whole second-to-bottom row of the 12x12 album, so I suspect there's just a class of interactable things I haven't noticed are interactable. Can anyone think of a hint that isn't just a giveaway?
I'm really glad you're enjoying the game! Thanks for your kind comment!
You should already know the process for finding those puzzles since you found another set like it. If you need a more specific hint, please let me know! :D

This was great! I had a lot of fun playing it, and it was absolutely beautiful. I LOVE nonograms/picross and having a little bit of a story with it was so much fun. I loved doing the different parties hehehe :) The puzzles - nonogram and otherwise - weren't easy but they weren't super challenging, either; all of them had an easy solution and often when I picked up an item I'd realize where it was supposed to go, if I had previously encountered and gotten frustrated with things.
Thank you so much for the game, I had a ton of fun!
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! I'm delighted that you enjoyed the game and I appreciate that you took the time to play my weird little fever dream. :D
Hey! A couple months we bumped into you or one of your associates at the Midwest gaming classic in Wisconsin, and you/they handed me a gbc copy of your game. I've been playing it over the past week after work and I'm consistently surprised by the charm and challenge the game provides! Even without a working save function, I've been using the save state feature on my analogue pocket to help proceed. Point being, I've really been enjoying what you've made and I hope you keep releasing great and charming game boy games!
Hey, that was me! (Incidentally, thanks for letting me butt in on your Taiko no Tatsujin session! I had forgotten how heavy those sticks are, and I had to pull off my wedding ring mid-song because it was digging into my skin, lol.) So glad you're enjoying the game and that you've got a workaround for saving! I'm still hoping I can get some properly functioning cartridges at some point; maybe I'll actually table as a game dev sometime. Currently working on a sequel to TaiFab! 😄
I solve a bunch of puzzles and currently i have solved 40+ puzzles. And now im stuck and atruggling to find something especially if there is a crossmark to dig
Yes i can sense fish or something else but i cant reach them because i cant swim. I qlso need the power of love and endship to open that door beside the save file. Also the crocodile thing, a random bucket and even the duck. I cant get through because of fire which i need to extiguise the fire.
But even through i still enjoyed solving them and i finally made it i also dont know whats the flower is for after solving it. Well.i guess thats all of it. Have a great day!
I'm glad you made progress and had fun! Thanks for commenting again!
Have you read the signs in the museum? (You can read signs after you solve their puzzles.) There's a very important sign on the back wall of the museum. :) It will help you swim.
I got 208% completion! Thanks for the fun time, can't wait for the next one but no pressure. Of-fish-ially one of my favourite games, an absolute essential in any Gameboy homebrew list
Hello, i can't finished the game, I'm having troubled solving the puzzles, i was trying to search in the internet for solutions but there were none. I'm struggling to complete the puzzles especially the 10x10 and 12x12
But this game is cute and cozy game i guess although it's kinda frustrating to sove the puzzle, if only there's a secret solution... (for spoiler).
It sounds like you are having trouble with general nonogram solving techniques. Every puzzle in the game has been thoroughly tested (I would know!) to confirm that there is only ever one solution, and that the player never has to make guesses about where to mark. There are no secret solutions, there are always logical moves you can make to correctly solve a puzzle!
Here are some tips:
Don't guess! Look at the information available and mark tiles that you know must be filled or empty. Each bit of information builds up and gives you more clues as to your next move, until the puzzle is complete. If at any time you think you have to guess, you have missed something important. Guessing will introduce bad information into your solution and can make solving much harder.
Don't just mark squares you know must be filled, mark squares that you know cannot be filled with an X mark! Knowing where tiles cannot be filled is every bit as important as knowing where tiles can be filled. There are many puzzles where this information is the key to making progress.
It took me a little while to build up momentum, but after learning a few helpful techniques recently I started steamrolling through this game! Went from... I'd estimate less than halfway through the game to 200% in just a couple of days! I can't seem to find that 201st puzzle I need to complete though... I'm playing TaiFab+ so I know there are 208 total puzzles, but for now I'm stuck at 200 completed... Regardless, this game was amazing! Sure, I was missing some quality-of-life features from other Picross/Nonogram games, but this one was very relaxing to complete as I explored this quirky little world, and I especially love that this game isn't the type to immediately mark off wrong answers and penalize you or put a timer on completing the puzzle :3
Make sure you check your album progress (Select button while in the overworld) as that is invaluable for tracking down what puzzles you are missing. All the puzzles in the first 100% are tracked in those albums. Those are the easiest puzzles to miss, and they do have a grouping scheme. If your albums are all filled out, you know to look in the endgame areas for your last two puzzles, and then the TaiFab+ puzzles should be behind that.
Album is all full, and I'm assuming Chad will give me the 202 after I complete 201 so I can summon Chad. I finished all three rooms of bonus puzzles, I believe I completed every puzzle in the house after that... I'll have to double-check all the ducks (geese?) and see if there are any objects that are interactable that I missed. Thanks for the advice, that narrows my search down a bit!
I absolutely just ADORE this game. First itch io game I've bought, and I'm loving it. It looks beautiful on my Gameboy colour, I bought the game especially for it after playing a couple minutes on web. I simply love picross and have always wanted more games that have an adventure aspect with the puzzle element, and this just scratches that itch. The puzzles are surprisingly difficult at times but I welcome that as I find some picross to be too easy, I've almost finished the whole 3DS picross game lineup. I'm unfortunately stuck on the chest in the bucket outside the dev house, even used a nonogram solver but it didn't seem to do it correctly so I'm kind of at a loss...
But anyways, I love this! It's inspired me to think about my own dream picross type game, maybe a city builder. And I read the story in the dev house, I'd love to see the taiyaki building itself.
I really appreciate your support and your very thoughtful comment!! And I'm so glad if my game inspires other people to make cool puzzle games!
As for the chest in the bucket: if you'd like, I can give you the solution. Otherwise, you can post a screenshot of where you got stuck and I (or someone else here) can probably help find your next move. :)
Unfortunately, the taiyaki building I made in that game is from a modded save from a long time ago, so it doesn't look right anymore because I don't have the same set of mods. That's part of the reason I made this game--to preserve the original text, lol :D
I finally got the puzzle! I've been progressing more and wow this game is just so full of content. Its really calming and just what I need before I start college!
One more thing, I loaded up the game and got a "kernel panic" error and it said to send a picture to the dev, but I reloaded the game and it was fine. Do you still want a picture?
And yes I have the pic here, never put a photo in the comments before so if it's not formatted right I can always email it to you.
This was on tabifab plus, I've not got the original on this cart. It happened on loading the game right past the initial screen with your QR code on it. I'm using a Gameboy colour and a cheap SD card compatible flash cartridge. Weird because I think it stores the game itself in the cartridge once loaded. But yes after that it loaded fine, I think it might have gone back a save but I only lost one puzzle's progress.
And apologies for the bad picture, it's hard enough seeing it IRL lmao
I only started playing but like it so much that I bought the Plus version. Is there any way to transfer my progress from the web version to a GBC emulator?
Thank you so much for your support! That means a lot to me! 💖
Unfortunately, the web version is a completely different ROM from the Plus version, so their saves are not compatible. 😔 I hope it won't take too long for you to get back to where you were!
I had to make an itch account just to comment how I absolutely LOVED playing this game. I'm not much of a puzzle game enthusiast, but what kept me intrigued throughout the puzzles was the curiosity to see what kind of unique or charming interaction would happen next. Before I even noticed, I managed to complete all 200ish puzzles the game had to offer, I was surprised how each puzzle was fair and well-designed, without relying on 50/50 scenario to solve it (I know designing puzzles is hard). I also found both the music and the presentation very charming.
There were just a couple things that made me feel a bit stupid.
1. I didn't think of checking the sign posts after solving puzzles to check what they had to say. Maybe I'm on the same wave length as a typical game journalist and I need some kind of a big, fat NPC to say: "IF YOU WANNA READ THIS SIGN POST, YOU BETTER SOLVE THE PUZZLE FIRST! THAT'S THE LAW OF THE JUNGLE!"
2. I found the warp zone redundant. Let's say I wanted to get some Fish power and I start from the museum entrance. The locations I could warp to are just a short walk away, yet the inn, which is further away, does not have a warp. Maybe warping as a menu option in general would have been more efficient?
3. It took me too long to figure out to interact with the girl at the inn from behind the counter to get a new puzzle. I found it a little off-putting, since that was the only interaction in the entire game, where talking to an NPC from a specific angle was a necessity.
4. This is just me, but I don't like puzzles where the solution is a symmetrical shape. Those just felt a bit too easy.
5. The looong gallery had lots of fun puzzles and I enjoyed every minute of it. Though, the music got so repetitive at some point, that I opted to listen to something dumb instead, like a Vtuber burp compilation.
Aside from my asinine nitpicks, I wanted to thank you for this lovely experience!
As I said after I read your first comment, I appreciate your thoughts and I'm glad you had a good time with TaiFab. Thank you very much for your support and feedback.
You are not dumb! Here are some hints to help: - The innkeeper mentions a price for the room. Have you found any money? You might try looking around the Coral Shore. - The sea angel wants to be more angelic. You need to find an item that reminds people of angels. I suggest looking around the Crystal Lake area. 🙂
Finally got it! Sorry for doubting lol. I hadn't thought to try that bed since I had already done it once and gotten the message about sleeping restlessly.
I'm glad you found it! All of rhe puzzles in TaiFab are logically solvable (with no guessing required), but it can be tough to find the next step sometimes.
I'm not sure how experienced you are with nonograms, but if you're a newer player, you might find the "Clues" and "Techniques for Solving" sections of this page helpful: https://swadge.com/super2023/picross/
I really love the game so far, but I'm having some trouble with selecting and using items in the inventory. Is this due to using a laptop and playing in browser? If so I'd appreciate any help I can get
i had the same problem with the north! just go north of (or above) the museum, and walk along the trees, you'll find the entrance to the north area (its centered to the museum, if that makes sense?) as for the inventory, i dont know if you can select items within it, just because i dont think its ever needed in the game (if you have the relevant item in your inventory, then just interacting with things should get the intended result, at least in my experience!)
ive played this for hours, and i am completely unable to tear myself away from it. i am absolutely going to get and emulator and buy taifab plus i loved this game. dont know what im going to do now that im finished. ive never played a picross game before but this was such a good introduction!!! i cant wait to play anything else you put out!!!!
oh no! i got up to the last bubble in the post-game and it said "You must solve 201 puzzles to summon Chad. You have 200." and the bubble does not summon Chad. I was not aware of the 200 puzzle requirement and I don't think I did anything to sequence-break - let me know if there's some way I can send you more information
If I understand correctly, you have solved 200 puzzles?
You need to solve 201 in order for Chad to appear in the final room. Is your puzzle album completely full? Do you need help finding a missing puzzle? :)
Omg, I read it wrong like 5 different times. I'm so sorry!! I cannot apologize enough.
I loved the game!! Extremely Game Boy vibes in visuals and tone, I wish I had the hardware setup to play it on mine. And lovely renditions of classical pieces as well! Thank you so much! Happy Chadiversary! 🦑 🪼 🦀 ☀️ 👼 🎣 🐴 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆
No worries! I'm just glad you got it worked out. 😄
I'm really happy you enjoyed the game, and thank you so much for your kind comments!! I'm always relieved when folks say they enjoyed the music. I had never sequenced music before (outside of like, Animal Crossing's town theme or the Pokemon Pikachu electronic pet, and now I feel really old, lol).
You're officially the first commenter to mention the Toki Pona puzzles to me! 😄 I'm glad you enjoyed the kijetesantakalu ❤️🦝 I follow jan Sonja on Bsky, and she put out a call for puzzles for an upcoming book. I think she wants riddles and language puzzles, but I sent her my nonograms anyway just in case. It was nice just to tell her that I enjoy the language and get an email back from her. 😄

I got it! Thanks again! 😅
I'm happy to help! Please let us know if you need any more hints! 😄
I got 208% completion! Thanks for the fun time, can't wait for the next one but no pressure. Of-fish-ially one of my favourite games, an absolute essential in any Gameboy homebrew list
Hurray, GG!! I'm really glad you enjoyed the game and I appreciate your kind comment. :D Thank you so much for playing!

Oh, ok. Thanks for the info, I'll try my best to solve it! 😅👍
I'm glad you find the game cozy and I hope it becomes more fun and less frustrating. Please let us know if you need any more hints! :)
Thanks for your kind comment, and I'm so glad you enjoyed the game! I also really appreciate your support. <3
Columbrine has given you good advice--please let us know if you need any more help!
I found what I was looking for! Thank to Columbrine for the advice! And thank you for making such a great game!
YEEAAH
GG!! I hope you enjoyed the game! :D
how do you even get to the fish?
You need to swim to get to the fish. :) Have you read the signs in the museum? There's a very important sign on the back wall.
THANK YOU SO MUCH
No problem! I'm glad to help. :D
I'm glad you figured the puzzle out, and thank you for your kind comments about the game! Best of luck in your studies, BTW!
Oh no, that's the first kernel panic anyone has reported!! If you have that pic, I would like to see it, please. It happened on loading the game?
Edit: Also, did the kernel panic occur in TaiFabPlus specifically? What hardware/emulator were you using?
Thank you for the good luck!
Thank you so much for your detailed reply! I will take a look!
I'd became addict to nonograms
I love nonograms, so I'm glad to introduce them to new people! :D
Thanks for the response! It's not much of a hassle, really, because I really like the controls.
Hello!
P.S. My favorite fish is that weird looking one.
Thank you for your very thoughtful comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the game and I will surely keep your feedback in mind. 🙂
Nah, it's okay. I wouldn't have read my comment either.
Just wanted to say I loved the game, that's all.
As I said after I read your first comment, I appreciate your thoughts and I'm glad you had a good time with TaiFab. Thank you very much for your support and feedback.
I just want to know when the sequel is coming... hehehe
Hopefully by the end of this year! :)
Yall I think I'm dumb or smth. I can't get in the inn and I don't know how to help the angel fish T^T I'm losing my mind here
You are not dumb! Here are some hints to help:
- The innkeeper mentions a price for the room. Have you found any money? You might try looking around the Coral Shore.
- The sea angel wants to be more angelic. You need to find an item that reminds people of angels. I suggest looking around the Crystal Lake area. 🙂
Thank you so much T^T
No worries! Let me know if you need any other hints. :)
I've has a blast with this game, but I am going crazy trying to find the last set of puzzles. My completionist heart can't take this. I need guidance
I'm so glad you've enjoyed the game!
Have you tried sleeping in empty beds? There is more than one bed to sleep in. :)
I've done all the bed puzzles (unless there's a 4th bed I'm missing). What I can' t figure out is the second to last row of big puzzles.
I saw your screenshot the last time I posted, and my hint has not changed. :) I can give you the answer as a spoiler below:

Sleep in the bed in the middle room in the Moon Cottage Bed & Breakfast.
Finally got it! Sorry for doubting lol. I hadn't thought to try that bed since I had already done it once and gotten the message about sleeping restlessly.
No worries! I'm glad you found the puzzles. :D
This is the first game that I’ve picked up in literal decades and it was absolutely charming! Can’t wait for the sequel.
Wow, that is very high praise! I am honored by your comment and I appreciate you taking the time to play my game. :)
i'm having trouble with the puzzle that comes after the H (bucket) in the museum. i can't figure it out for the life of me!
nevermind! used the nonogram solver i found lower in the comments! here it is in case someone else needs it: https://fedimser.github.io/nonogram.html
Thank you so much!
Sorry for any confusion; wisepototo has given you good answers here. :) Please let me know if you need any more help!
ive played this for hours, and i am completely unable to tear myself away from it. i am absolutely going to get and emulator and buy taifab plus i loved this game. dont know what im going to do now that im finished. ive never played a picross game before but this was such a good introduction!!! i cant wait to play anything else you put out!!!!
Thank you very much for your kind comment! I am honored that you enjoyed the game so much. Also, I am currently working on a sequel to TaiFab. :)
oh awesome!! cant wait to play it when it comes out :D
After days of playing, I finally got the 202% completion. Such a cute, endearing game that I absolutely fell in love with. Adored every second!
Thank you so much for saying so! I'm really glad you enjoyed the game and I hope you will look forward to the sequel! :D
this is wonderful and i completely love it! is this a bug?
Hmm, if you have a screenshot there, I can't see it. :( So I'm not sure what you're referring to.
oh no! i got up to the last bubble in the post-game and it said "You must solve 201 puzzles to summon Chad.
ALSO i love the toki pona raccoon guy.
