Hanif Abdurraqib, "Glamor on the West Streets / Silver Over Everything"

  • 1.
I confess I once cried in the middle of a grocery store because they were out of the bread I loved. There I was standing in front of a row of focaccia, my face wet with tears, wondering about small mercies, and if the universe thought I don’t deserve a pita bread that day.

    2.
I confess I have spent money I didn’t have on food I didn’t really want, just to not feel alone. Just to carry something warm home. Avocado toast sprinkled with crushed peppercorns. French vanilla café latte. Yes, what a tragedy to spend it on a half-finished freedom. But some nights, even a little freedom feels like a feast.

    3.
I understand the urge to say: you can’t even get that right. I’ve said it to myself more times than I can count.

    4.
These days I am trying to be gentler. Even baptism doesn’t rinse everything away. Some things are meant to stay stuck, so we remember how far we’ve come.

    5.
It wasn’t about the bread. It was never about the bread. I think of how sometimes it’s easier to grieve what’s missing than say what we’ve really lost.

    6.
I confess it’s a strange kind of faith, to keep vowing love in a world like this. But I do. I have. I will. Not because I think I can get it right, but because I still believe in trying.

  • this is great, because the cat looks at her, kind of studies her for a moment and then turns away and imitates her position and the way she's looking out towards nothing (actually toward the camera but to the cat it looks like nothing of particular interest).

Cats use mimicry as a form of social bonding. This is why so often if you have to cats you'll find them napping near each other in the same position. It's like they look and say "ahh I see you are napping in a U shape, I also enjoy napping in that particular shape. I am friendly and will U shape nap along with you"

This cat studies the strange human and goes "okay, guess we're sitting upright and staring blankly out into space. I can get into that" and proceeds to do just that.

  • This cat is also exuding friendly/nonaggressive body language. It's making friends and hanging out. <3 It's probably also hoping she'll offer to pet it (look how it stares at her hand and then looks at her).

my nerevarine (nameless), somewhere close to Mandaran (Tamriel Rebuilt)

the armor depicted here is somewhat based on this native dunmer ebony mod , he is on the eastern side of the Morrowind mainland, this painting isnt entirely accurate (you cant see Red Mountain through the fog obv) but ive wanted to make an environmental piece, theres more of those to come

ive been making a lot of art lately due to my long vacation from uni C:

a bit of trivia: so far im interested in concepts that the nerevarine didnt exist before waking up on the boat to morrowind, that he is a True Dreamer or came into existence as a self defense of the Godhead, therefore he has no real name, he is not nerevar, he is also not Teldryn, although Teldryn mightve based himself off of the nerevarine. The nerevarine is an outlander to the entirety of tamriels universe, the player
