The way Miriam is the central character of Hogwarts Legacy while we never actually see her is absolutely amazing. This is great writing. ancient magic is introduced thanks to her, because she was doing research about it. she was the one who found the Portkey, she was the one who made Lodgok change his mind and stop following Ranrok. Professor Fig starts this journey with her memory in mind. Ranrok even had her wand. But above all, her morals, her good heart is what guides everything. It guides Eleazar Fig's actions, it guides the main character. It's all her legacy. The end made it very clear ; when Professor Fig dies and tells the main character, "Miriam would have loved you, my young friend." - and everything that follows. It's all about her. We follow her legacy. And we have never seen her! She never spoke or even appeared during the game. We do not know what she looks like. Yet she is very, very important, and we all love her, because her memory flies around us the during entire game. I love it.
“a drag path etched in the surface” but it’s all the friends from my childhood that i don’t speak to any more. all the friendships that petered out due to distance or petty disagreements or raging fights that i’ll never get closure for . all the people who shaped me but that i’ll have no what happened to.
can someone tell my moms boyfriend he sucks
"Miriam would have loved you, my young friend" actually broke me. i haven't been the same person since i have heard this line. what a beautiful, deep, heart-breaking line. not only does Professor Fig tell the main character he loves them with this line, but he compliments them in such a sad and beautiful way, by telling them the amazing woman that was his wife, who he talks about so fondly and with such a strong admiration, would have done so too. what a very sad and lovely way to express affection and admiration. i cannot even explain how much i love that his final thoughts were for his wife and for the main character, to express, in some way, that he believed the succession is assured ; and that he used his last seconds to say such a beautiful thing.
thinking about MC and professor fig.
thinking about their everyday convo while MC tells them the latest castle gossip.
thinking about professor fig making MC tea after a particularly rough night.
thinking about MC showing fig the room of requirement and how meticulously organized and decorated its all been (fig jokes that if you don’t become an auror, utilizing your transfiguration skills to be an interior designer will surely be the next best option).
thinking about him pacing the map room waiting for you to get back from the first trial, not quite knowing what the keepers have in store and just hoping you make it back alright. it’s a battle of his belief in you and his own fears.
thinking of his terrified journey back to the castle after getting you the second trial, just now realizing how much danger you’re in with both rookwood and ranrok after you.
got so upset over this batshit comment i got on ao3 only to find out i think i may have fallen victim to a bot….
Professor Weasley: My dearest Fig, I know you're more the wiser than most but is it truly a good idea to have a student involved in this mess?
Professor Fig: Oh surely not. But the child yearns for battle, Matilda.
gonna start another gameplay of hogwarts legacy where i make slightly different but ultimately inconsequential choices!
