sorry for [remembering a tumblr post about expressing gratitude instead of apologising to make the interaction more positive for the other person] i mean thank you for having a boyfriend who was so easy to run over withmy car and reverse over three times maybe four
TRUTH. What you need is imagination, and you don’t need to go anywhere to use it.
Yeah, sure, seeing new things is helpful as a fantasy writer. But. Don’t make the mistake of assuming that exposure to new things is the same as traveling. You know what else exposes you to new things? The internet. Documentaries. Books. Freaking Youtube. So when you’re bored of cats and cooking tutorials, go on an adventure!
You wanna write create some fantasy creatures but don’t know where to start? Go check out some videos The Weird Creatures Earth has Had.
Want some inspiration for your Super Evil Villain’s Villanous Deeds?
Or maybe you want some weird locations to kick start your Fantasy World Terraforming?
Or maybe you need knowledge of bunches of historical places and cities and cultures?
But maybe you’re basing fantasy on the modern world?
Okay but lets say you want to start from the same inspiration as GRRM? (and part two!)
That’s just the stuff I could quickly grab. Things I’m subscribed to, that I know offhand. There is So. Much. Stuff. Online.
The best thing about the internet is that it means its not just the fortunate sons that get to learn, and explore and imagine and write. We get to see stories from all over the place, from all sorts of people, who bring All Kinds of New Ideas.
I like you.

Hey so
the last time I reblogged this post right before I got a great job, in a permanent work-from-home position, with benefits, retirement, and a salary literally 3x what I was making before, doing something I really like.
So you know.
This might be the real one, y’all.
I'm at this point in my live. I BELIEVE, PLS, A HOUSE NEAR UNI, PLS
I miss you.
Like the sun misses the moon. I miss looking at the night sky and not being reminded of your skin. I miss kissing your scarred skin and whispering it words of love hoping you will never be hurt again. I miss our last day filled with so much love it was dripping at the seams, filling me up with the beauty of your very existence. I wish you had chosen me. I am envious of all you chose instead. I miss the laughter we would have even in our worst fights. I miss not being afraid of who I am. I miss the the crinkles forming at the corners of your eyes every time you look at me. No need to even smile yet I see the softness you hold within for me alone. I promised to never write poetry for that which was in my hands. Maybe that's why I started writing you poetry now. You are gone. And the heavens may say that it's good, that it's growth, but it's not us.
I miss you.
I miss not having to search in every corner for proofs of your existence. Tie me up and curse me, at least you'll be in my line of sight. I do not care if it's lust or regret but never forget me. And maybe a tomorrow forgiveness will be all that's left.
And I will no longer miss you.

Movement Kills Pacing
Something my screenwriting prof told us that really stuck with me was “avoid just moving bodies through space”, as in—movement on its own isn’t storytelling. I sometimes get into this habit where I get so caught up in where my characters are spatially that I forget to tell the story in favour of clearing up who is where and what each movement is, ala:
Anna walked over to the kitchen, picked up the pitcher and paused, deciding whether or not she wanted water, before crossing back through the living room and looking out the window, then walked back towards the kitchen yadda yadda yadda, you’re bored, I’m bored, this isn’t a story, this is someone walking around.
As with everything in writing, I’m not saying movement should be cut out entirely, but I am saying that it works best when it’s used intentionally. In any normal scene, other than a quick set up of who is generally where at the start of the scene: (Anna sat in the driver’s seat, staring down at her phone as John fell into the passenger seat beside her), we don’t need to know every little movement they make—readers will assume and fill in the spaces where movement may seem obvious.
Then, the best time to bring up movement again is either for a dramatic motion (Anna leapt from the car window, tumbling across the concrete), or a dramatic shift in emotion/psychology. (John’s brows furrowed tightly. Turning on his heel, he stormed from the room.)
Essentially, if you can take it out, you should. We have to trust our readers that they will fill in all the spaces we leave—we don’t necessarily have to write it out for them.
Good luck!
The end was never kind, it was never cruel. It never meant to be anything at all. Falling skies were never meant to be poetic, yet countless authors bleed there words dry. It is in your nature to find beauty in destruction, to find life in sickness and meanings is concepts that have none. Words were invented to fill a void created by souls hearing for a place in world they would not belong. The end was never meant to be anything at all, but neither were we. Both people and endings will be dressed in colors of mourning only if we chose them to.
- Endings as People
Hey someone suggested I use ChatGPT to figure out adulting today, and as I was going through the mental list of places I'd rather look, I realized "beloved strangers on Tumblr dot net" was on that list.
So if you have an aspect of adulting that you're really good at-taxes, budgeting, cooking, insurance, credit, time management, house upkeep, anything-please feel free to reblog with any tips.
Not me, but @bitchesgetriches has a lot of great resources for many of these topics on their website.
