Louise Bourgeois (1911-2010) Untitled, ca. 1970 in Louise Bourgeois: Drawings from the 1960s @courtauld
LB: ‘Drawings are thought feathers, ideas that I seize in mid-flight and put down on paper’.
In 1996, reminiscing about her abstract drawings, Bourgeois said ‘Stroke, the speed of the stroke - the realistic drawings are quicker; abstract drawings come with real leisurely speed. The abstract drawing does not have to prove anything.’
