what the rtte writers didnt understand is that its an ensemble cast, so having hiccup be the coolest guy every and not letting any other character have their moments isnt fun and understandable the way it is with the movies, but just annoying

there are many non hiccup episodes that give specific characters their own stories, but in like every single one that characters pivotal cool badass moment is always squashed by hiccup doing something cooler. it makes it hard to watch sometimes. an episode will be about a characters emotional journey and then theyll have a fun action moment as rtte does, but then he'll be like 'ok gang lets clean up the trash' and do fifteen barrel rolls and a new night fury move. it just feels like they HAVE to remind you that hes the best and most talented rider.

and this also butchers the fuck out of what makes hiccup such a good main character. he gets to be cringefail sometimes. hes a cringefail autistic guy with too much free time. when you sap out the cringefailness hes boring

Favored Snotlout moment? (movies, shows, shorts, ect)

...least favorite Snottykins moment?

Favorite: that one scene in Notlout where he does a looney tunes run and skitters away after Fishlegs finds out he stole his flowers. It's SOOOOO silly. The scene itself is very emblematic of him as a character as well but i'm specifically obsessed with the way he scampers away

there are a bunch of specifc snapshots and longer scenes that are close contenders (S1 of rtte has a ton of good Snotlout moments he's such a cute lil idiot in Reign Of Fireworms and Quake Rattle and Roll) but that one i'm particulary fond of

Least favorite: anytime he flirts with Astrid for the sole purpose of facilitating the writers idea of a girl power moment where she gets to beat him up (my problem isn’t that he hits on Astrid or that she reprimands him but how it's implemented and the fuction it serves), that one scene where there's a vulcanic outbreak and he's falling to his death with the twins joking about it and Hookfang not giving a shit, all of the weird torture scenes in Bad Moon Rising, anytime he says "me likey"

(Also the comics/games where his character is boiled down to only being an annoying punching bag, no particular scene they’re just all kinda like that)

Yeah you are right I completely understand your reasoning behind Hiccup, mine is kinda the opposite, I find hilarious the idea that Hiccup is a complete beanpole EXCEPT on the cake

He has that hazbin hotel build to me no curves in sight whatsoever

What about Astrid? Does she have cake?

Honestly Astrid doesn’t give me big ass vibes either

she trains for efficiency Snotlout trains his glamor muscles

Eretlout where Snotlout is feeling extra insecure (maybe he got rejected idk, smth happens to make him feel unwanted) so he shows up on Erets doorstep absolutely hammered, asks Eret if he loves him (he does not get a yes), throws up on him mid makeout sesh and then passes out on his way to the bathroom. Eret is both concerned and extremely confused like we're talking they've hooked up once or twice

I harbour a mild resentment for Crash Course (the fireworm hatchling episode), not because it's bad in and of itself but because they way it's treated by the fandom as proof of Snotlouts moral character. Like it somehow wasn’t clear that he's capable of kindness until he played with baby dragons. Like this episode redeemed him in some way, when no redemption was necessary.

Not to mention that this is framed as a "Snotlout saves the day" episode, when he doesn’t actually get to do anything during the final battle — Hookfang attacks the Crasher, he outsmarts it by burning away it's slime. Snotlout doesn’t act, he just hides behind rubble and comments on what's happening. That’s not inherently bad but if you're gonna end the episode with Snotlout having a statue build im his honor then have him actually do smth

Vikings didn't have horns on their helmets but I bet if you showed them a single modern Viking depiction they'd all start doing it like gangsters imitating The Godfather
