Fearful (Tiny PoV)
In which you’ve found yourself shrunken down out of nowhere and have a frightening encounter!
You slowly come back into consciousness. You don’t open your eyes yet, though, because you’re immediately more focused on the ringing in your ears and the painful pounding in your head. Your breath quickens, and you curl inward to cover your head, but after a few moments, it slowly goes away.
You calm your breathing, then finally open your eyes to find your bearings. Pushing yourself into a seated position on the hardwood floor, your eyes dart around, and you feel a sense of confusion and discomfort at what you see. You know where you are, but nothing is right at all.
A bed the size of a building looms over you as you crane your neck back. Off to your left sits your towering desk and chair, and your massive dresser to the right. Everything is making your head spin, and you look back down at the floor beneath you as you try to comprehend and process what’d just happened to you.
You’ve shrunk, and you gather that you’re probably no more than four inches tall, and you’re sitting out in the middle of the floor. You’re exposed, vulnerable, and you begin to hear soft thuds in the distance that slowly approach the room you’re in. Footsteps, you realize, and then it suddenly hits you. If you’re smaller than everything in this room, you’re smaller than everyone as well. The sound of your roommate’s voice calls out to you, and you have no idea how to respond, or if you even should. You don’t really have much time to think as he steps into the doorway. You watch him look around your room for you, a container of food in his hand, and you freeze.
You know deep down that you can trust him. He’s been your rock through everything you’ve been dealing with for the past few years. Yet, in this moment, you can’t help but feel absolute terror when you see just how much bigger he is now.
“Where are you at? Food’s here! It should help with your headache.”
Right, the headache you’d been complaining about earlier. You chalked it up to a lack of sleep, but something about it still felt wrong, and now you might have an idea why. He takes a step into the room, and that’s all it takes for you to cry out and scuttle back against the bed. The drawers beneath the bed prevent you from backing up any further, and unfortunately for you, the movement seems to have drawn his attention to you.
The moment his eyes meet yours, you watch his face fall immediately as he realizes what’s happened. He takes a much more cautious step further into the room to set what was originally supposed to be your food on your desk before turning back to you. You watch as he then takes a few steps closer before slowly lowering onto the ground and sitting in front of you.
You’re shaking at this point, both from fear but also from your lack of adequate body heat at this size. Paralyzed with fear, all you can do is sit there and wait to see what he would do. When he reaches out slowly toward you with a hand that could easily wrap around you entirely, you cry out and try to back away again, but you have nowhere to go. No matter where you think you could run, he’s close enough now that he could reach out and grab you before you managed to make it even five steps away.
His hand closes in. You begin to whimper, tears brimming in your eyes as he curls his index inward. Your eyes are locked onto it and you try to lean away, but finally it comes too close, and you close your eyes instead, crying out when the back of it softly brushes against you.
“Shh, shh… it’s okay,” he croons to you quietly, the same way he would any other time you were struggling and needed support.
Hearing how soft his voice is, feeling how gently his index rubs against your side, you feel just enough of your fear melt away to open your eyes and look up into his. You see no hints of malice, no ill intentions in his eyes as he watches over you. All you see is concern and sympathy, and though you’re still terrified, you’re able to control your breathing a bit more.
“Come here,” he nearly whispers, and you feel your adrenaline kicking in as you quickly realize what he means.
The small amount of progress you’d made toward not being afraid of him is instantly erased. Your breathing becomes rapid again as he now reaches both of his hands toward you. You shake your head and whimper again as he surrounds you on either side with them, bringing them both toward you. You’re shaking as they make contact, confident that you’ve never been this scared before.
He continues to softly shush you as he gently gathers you into his hands, your tiny panicked squirms no match for the massive fingers that effortlessly contain you within his hands. Even using only the smallest amount of strength, he quickly overpowers you and you find yourself being lifted up off of the floor. All you can do is tremble, cling, and cry as you’re now at his complete mercy. You hide your face in your hands, not wanting to see just how high up you are.
You know you can trust him, you know he would never hurt you, but it doesn’t make your situation any less terrifying. This absolutely massive being just lifted you from the floor with no struggle or effort on his part, and there’s nothing you can do about it. There’s nothing you can do about anything at your current size.
Just when you feel hopelessness begin to creep in, however, you feel a warm, gentle pressure around you. You slowly uncover your eyes to find that your roommate is holding you to his chest, surrounding you in warmth as his thumb runs along your shoulder.
“I’ve got you, you’re gonna be okay.”
You can feel the way his voice rumbles in his chest, the vibrations passing through you as he speaks. You wouldn’t have imagined that anything about him at this size would be comforting, but for some reason, feeling his voice is what grounds you. In that moment, you finally feel your fear dissipating as you now relish the feeling of being held in a moment of such intense vulnerability outside of your control.
You reach out to grab onto his shirt and bury your face against it as you cry. His hands carefully shift around you, holding you just a bit tighter to him as you gradually begin to calm down.
“There we go. I know this is really scary for you, but I won’t let anything happen to you. I’ll keep you safe, I promise.”
You look up to see him softly smiling, nodding in response before nuzzling back against his shirt. He holds you just a bit tighter with one hand as he uses the other to help himself stand up, quickly returning it to you once he’s on his feet.
You don’t know where he’s taking you, but you don’t care quite as much about that, focusing only on the feeling of him holding you. Even though you’re so much smaller than him now, nothing about the way he’s treating you so far has been any different.
His hold shifts on you one more time as he slowly sits, then lays back, letting your tiny weight transfer to be resting on his chest now. He keeps a hand resting over you, his thumb idly stroking across your hair. Looking around, you realize that he hasn’t actually gone very far, opting to instead lay with you in your room on your bed.
You slowly nod your head, curling inward to snuggle in on his chest.
“I’ve heard of this happening before a couple of times, but it’s extremely rare… I was hoping this wasn’t why you had a headache, but uh, here we are I guess.”
You sigh to yourself, pressing your ear down onto his chest to listen to his heart beating beneath you, letting it comfort you as you try to process everything.
“There’s a treatment for it, but it’s a bit tricky to find. I’ve heard it sometimes goes away on its own too, but there’s always a risk of it happening again. It can’t be cured, but we can hope at least that this doesn’t happen too often.”
You nod again, feeling a twinge of hope as you learn of a potential solution to your dilemma.
“Until then, I’ll be here for you. No matter what you need, all you have to do is ask. We’ll figure things out as we go, and even if it’s a bit rough, everything will be alright.”
After experiencing such a drastic change in size, an immense amount of fear, and an emotional collapse, you find yourself yawning and looking up at him.
“Do you want me to put you down so you can sleep?”
You immediately shake your head and grip his shirt tight again, feeling a soft chuckle beneath you.
“Alright, alright, just checking. I didn’t know if you’d want to sleep here like this or not.”
You nod your head one last time, closing your eyes and letting yourself drift off to sleep listening to his heartbeat. You don’t know what the future holds, but you know that as long as you have him, you’ll be just fine.
