Important tips for writers!!!
I’m from a cold place and in stories people are often not dealing with cold emergency situations correctly. Now let’s say character A falls through some ice into freezing water.
Once they are on top of the ice again they should not stand but instead roll to land.
Character B should never dive in after them instead they should grab a long stick or rope or cvs receipt and throw it to where character A fell in order to help pull them up.
Now when reheating someone it gets a little bit tricky as advice can vary. But one thing remains true you must reheat them gradually and Never put them in a hot bath/shower. Never Use a heating pad against skin. Never Have them stay in wet clothes.
But this is also where a lot of the fun can start. Most places will say to get indoors (like a building or car) if you don’t have access to one of those things build a fire.
Once there get character A out of those wet clothes. Now if they have access to new dry clothes they can put those on but if not they should stay nude.
This is where suggestions start to differ. Some say you should do exercise to help heat up. Some say characters A and B should strip down and cuddle under blankets to exchange body heat.(fanfic writers you could do amazing things with this I believe). Some say you should drink warm (not hot) drinks or alcohol. Or some combination of these.
Have fun and stay warm.
And the number one halloween costume amongst the youth of today is, for a record breaking 63 years in a row, Scout’s ham costume from To Kill A Mockingbird
Fuck you DC. No one was excited for the new red hood run but i'll take that over throwing a transwoman under the bus for cheering when a nazi dies
I dont know her at all. Idk what she did or didnt do but I refuse to sing in tune with hateful right wing transphobes who always get coddled by corporations.
One thing I hate about the way people write about Jason Todd death is the whole victim blaming thing. It’s like they think the only way Bruce can stay a good person is if Jason death was Jason’s fault. It feels like the narrative can’t comprehend that the only person that is to blame is the Joker. can Bruce and Jason have complicated feelings about who is to blame in this situation? Yes and it is understandable that they would. But it so often feels like they think that from an actual narrative standpoint that Jason is to blame. I really hate how they add things when they write Jaybin to make it seem like his death was inevitable.
It feels like they’re trying blame him for not being a perfect victim. When in reality the only perspective that allows a person to be a perfect victim is a serial killer’s.

This a poll asking some questions to the long term fan girlies. The ones who have been doing this longer than I have been alive. (Not a requirement) I have started reaching that age where some of my peers have started to get into serious relationships and few even married. I am a fangirl through and through have been since I was a kid with no less a passion for it then than now. I write fanfic, ship queer characters, buy merch and practically everything else that comes with being a fan girl. I’m starting to think about trying to put myself out there in the dating world but I would like to have a more realistic view of relationships and how they interact with fandom.
Thank you for answering. If this post gets a good response I might make some other polls with further questions. Please feel free to share stories and advice in comments below.😄
Please share, reblog and like this to help me get a better sample size.
Female! Robins head cannon: period edition
Dick honestly doesn’t have that bad of a period. Her flow is normal and her cramps are mild. She the kind of girl who runs off her cramps (or in her case flips). But her hormones cause her to very angry and upset at the drop of a hat. Alfred obviously deals with most of the period related shopping. So it takes a hot minute for Bruce to realize what is actually happening. For a moment there he was starting to think that he was not cut out for being a parent since a lot more of his interactions with Dick ended with her either shouting at him, storming off, or being cranky. She also loves chocolate around this time the more the better.
Jason has her first period shortly after moving into the manor. She doesn’t know what is happening but she isn’t sure if she should trust Bruce or Alfred yet. So she hides it. Jason a crier from day one and Bruce quickly becomes concerned that the usual tough sassy girl seems withdrawn, scared, and crying at things she usually wouldn’t. Alfred figures out what is going on before Bruce does. Alfred talks to Jay about it before encouraging her to tell Bruce. She does and becomes one of her most precious memories of living at the manor. She still frequently cries when she is on her period. She still gives a glare that could kill but just with tears in her eyes. Uses a hot pad for cramps and prefers to spend her time laying around. Her most common cravings are fruity desserts.
Tim honestly barely notices her period. She just doesn’t seem to experience symptoms besides the bleeding and occasional cramping or craving. When Bruce finds out he starts to change his behaviour in expectation of emotional outbursts, but they never come. Tim honestly thinks he might be a little sexist for this. (Until she witnesses the extent of Dick’s and Jason’s outbursts). The most notable thing is her frequent cravings and enjoyment of dill pickles in ranch.
Damian gets his first few periods without any major bumps or problems. It’s enough for everyone to be lured into a false sense of security. They honestly believe that she is going to be easy like Tim. Until about her fifth period she is sitting at Jon’s house and they’re about to watch a movie on tv. When one of those sad animals commercials comes on and then the floodgates open. She is sobbing barely able to speak. Jon who honestly was beginning to think that Damian only had two modes (smug and angry). Is taken aback and just sits in a frightened silence. He finally does when Clark and Lois come in to say that he’s done absolutely nothing to cause this. They try to talk Damian but can’t understand her. After a few minutes with no sign of the crying coming to an end they decide to take her home. Jon walks her to the door and she is still crying. When the door opens Jon sticks his hands up like they have guns aimed at him. Alfred comes and Damian upstairs while Jon explains what happened to Bruce who has that you’re-not-good-enough-for-my-daughter/ I-don’t-believe-you face on. Bruce eventually tells Jon that he’ll talk to Damian about it and to go home. From that day on Damian a crier, she not as bad as Jason but there is no denying it. Like Dick she loves chocolate and runs off her cramps.
Duke is like Tim nice and easy. Though she doesn’t experience the weird cravings. While her period isn’t that bad she will complain about it to get extra treats and out of things she doesn’t want to do. She totally plays it up to get what she wants out of others. She never lies about it but she is known to take it to a dramatic level when it benefits her. She prefers to spends most days on her period curled up cosy and warm.
I’ve been thinking about the selection series by Keira Cass for the last little while and about how cool it be if it was done right.
Number 1 I think it should be made by Disney. Mainly because we know Disney can absolutely kill it in the ball gown department which is essential to this show. Like the dresses were a big part of what drew me to these books. Not only that but the selection itself is used as a way to distract people from the problem of there society, so they should be this big flashy dresses. Like met gala outfits that are actually wearable.
Number 1.5 I don’t think we should try and dull down the other girls costumes in order to make America stand out more. I think every single girl should have her own style and angle they’re using to appeal to people. I also think it will make the competition aspect stand out more if it seems America really isn’t that different from all the other girls. (Despite what she thinks) It also deepens the story to think that there is actual competition for America.
Number 2 I think the series shouldn’t just be from America perspective. I think it be really interesting to explore what other girls in the selection are going through and could be a great way to explore how truly dystopian society in this world is.
Example)
•Kris and the rebels what is her relationship to them. How do they feel about her being in the selection? Was it planned? By chance? What is there plans for her?
• A Celeste episode focusing on the dystopian beauty industry. How does the beauty standard affect people in these societies.
•A episode about Marlee falling in love with the guard. And the risk they take for love.
• an episode about a girl we barely meet in the books. She is one of the lower caste girls selected. When she is selected she has just found out that she is pregnant and has come to terms with wanting her baby. Her “team” decided to not make drop out and shame her publicly but instead force her to get an abortion. By the time she gets to the palace she hasn’t come to terms with losing her baby and struggling mentally. She is one of the first girls sent home. When she goes home one of her “team” asks her how it was? The episode closes on the shot of her slowly turning to the camera tears dripping down her face as she says “I lost my baby for that?” This episode would focus on the fact that she loses both her baby and her bodily autonomy for a man who doesn’t even like her.
• Another episode would focus on another lower caste girl who is sent home. When she gets home she is quickly married off to an upper caste disabled man who is around her age. The whole she struggles with the duties of an upper caste wife. Her husband seems distant and she doesn’t really express how she feels to him. She is also under the impression that his parents picked her out to marry him. At one point she asks why they would pick her and he just replies that she seemed kind. At the end of the episode she messes up a big dinner. The couple is alone and she is sobbing and he just kind of watches not sure what to do. She tells him that his parents made a mistake and should have never picked her to marry him. He looks at and says “I picked you because you are kind.” She stares at him and for the first time she sees the loving man she married for who he really is. She hugs him and a bit startled hugs her back. The episode closes on this image and we know they are going to be okay.
Number 3 this book is set in a dystopian future and the fashion should reflect that. I’m not saying that you need full hunger games but we shouldn’t just be following the same trends and fashion styles that are currently popular. Part of the reason that one pilot episode looks so bad is because it looks like society collectively decided that fashion peaked in the mid 2000s and we should just keep doing that. Which is a dystopian idea in itself but I don’t want to watch that. Look for ideas from the past and use them. People are going to be ripping apart these dresses both in universe and out. It should be good.
Number 4 the outfits should not reflect are characters unless they have dressed themselves. Most girls outfits are being handmade to try and make the appeal to a certain audience or fit them into a specific role or character. Celeste for example should be shown in high fashion and expensive clothes that that scream wealth and popularity. While Marlee should be styled more like a classic pink princess who sings to the birds.
Number 5 I think that America needs to have that “I’m not like girls” mentality because it is so relatable and gives such growth to go through as a character. I didn’t read the selection in middle school when it was popular because I was going through my “I’m not like other girls phase.” I think it’s something every girl goes through. So I want America to go through the first part being like “I’m different from these other girls I want to wear jeans,” only to realize that she is exactly like them. (Maybe we do a story where after America gets her jeans the other girls come up and say “so I know you got pants, and we are around the same size so I was wondering if I could borrow a pair?” And then suddenly America finds herself becoming a black market pants dealer for the other girls.) I think it’s kind of funny if America goes through part the story thinking she not like these other girls only to realize that she is just like them. And that is okay because they are all stunning talented women who are amazing.
Number 5.5 part of the reason I think that America should have her “I’m not like other girls” thing is because in fiction we are so cruel to young women who are not perfect. So I think America should be a bit of a brat and not have to perfect to show that she still deserves love even when she a little stupid. Also her going through her not like other girls phase is natural and think it is a great thing for girls to see her learn that she is just like other girls.
