The way people conceptualise child abuse as actions performed by degenerate outsiders, rather than the socially disapproved use of respected structural power, does so much ideological heavy lifting for patriarchy. It both absolves the power structure itself of its most egregious cruelties, provides as useful rhetorical bludgeon against anyone who doesn't conform and creates an external threat that justifies the existence of the power structure altogether. It's no wonder that many people with reactionary tendencies, even those who otherwise present themselves as "progressive", are so eager to defend such "external degeneracy" theories and blame trans women or furries or fucking Japanese animation for child molestation. It's one of patriarchy's strongest work horses, so they don't want it sent to the knackers
