I still live an eclectic life of fleeting obsessions, but also I'm burnt out and I'm tired a lot. I want to learn Japanese and Chinese. I finished my Masters in CS in December 2025 and I am so tired. I am so very very tired.
My goals in life are to become a full-time teacher, own a house, and find a life partner. They have been this way for a long time.
If prompted, I will not stop talking about Gladius (2003) for the Gamecube.
Oh also yeah I'm 35. AI is not art.

tbh the current default state of operating systems & internet browsers looks fucking indistinguishable from when i gave the family desktop one billion viruses downloading Free Neopoints Hack in 2005
not to be a millennial but back in my day getting blasted in the eyeballs by ads on your desktop the instant you turn on your computer used to mean something was extremely wrong

I miss when the internet used to be about sharing things with each other. People would upload terrible quality anime opening themes to youtube, not to make a buck, but just so that other people could see them. Now it’s so much just a place for rich people to get richer and own everything.

I know it’s only been two weeks but it really feels like this period of unemployment is causing me to unravel in a new way I also don’t enjoy

Tired of being tricked by anime where the promos and posters all feature Pretty and Eccentric Girls but then the protagonist is Normal Boy
I have seen enough of Normal Boy
I have watched and enjoyed many such series but I tire of them
Pretty Girl and Eccentric Girl (same) should be teasing kissing each other for 13 episodes and then no one ever talks about the series ever again but it lives in my head for a decade
Infinite Stratos and Love Hina come to mind, so maybe I should just avoid harems (note: SAO is not a harem)
Other anime takes:
I am tired of anime and manga with interesting premises but then they blow their load too quickly and boil down to Normal School Slice of Life (with too many characters) - examples include Onimai (a series I really want to like for a lot of reasons but just ughhgg), Watamote (when there were episodes that didn’t even include the older sister, then what’s the point, what are we doing here), Our Wonderful Days (probably the most bored I’ve ever been reading a manga, didn’t even make it one volume before reaching this point), and I Think I Turned My Childhood Friend Into a Girl (I was so excited by volume 1 but then the OnLiNe dRaMa with the fan translator put me off, plus volume 2 was so uninteresting)
Corollary: anime and manga that are Very Good but the author can’t help but hyperfixate and get stuck in the weeds, quite literally Losing the Plot - My Dressup Darling (My Favorite Manga), 2.5 Dimensional Seduction, Oshi no ko
Similar: anime and manga I want to like more but That One Character is so bad they spoil the whole bushel - Konosuba (Darkness just sucks so bad omg), Haganai (Rika is frustrating and annoying) - Actually, thinking about it, I’m always now cautious of The Masochist Character and The Scientist Character. The Masochist is usually paired with The Sadist who is usually more tolerable and more level-headed and way less uncontrollably perverted
Corollary: anime and manga I want to like more but Every Character Except One is so so so awful - Working/Wagnaria (get Popura away from this awful cafe and into a better anime)
