it's almost 2 am where i live and i should probably go to bed but instead i'm thinking about madoka and homura both having the fate of a person very precious to them (sayaka to madoka and madoka to homura respectively) in their hands and making radically different decisions: madoka respected sayaka's wish to become a magical girl in order to heal kyousuke too much to alter her fate and grant her a normal life, homura was so obsessed with madoka at this point that she directly opposed her choice to sacrifice herself for the sake of all magical girls

but on the other hand, i will die on the hill known as madoka made sayaka a part of law of cycles because even though she willingly CHOSE to become a goddess and practically erase herlsef from existence she still had a tiny bit of selfishness left in her as in she wanted to keep some part of her previous life to herself even after she ceased to be a human and then there's homura who is undoubtedly obsessed but who still wants to make not herself but MADOKA happy, even if she has to go against her to create a reality where it would be possible
