a CRITTER? Carrying a BERRY?? Across a BRAMBLE VINE?????
This guy's illusions are great
I live by the motto, “if you can’t buy what you want, make it.” And this motto came to life recently in the form of a floral mosaic dining table for my back deck.
Our deck table had been showing its age already when the wind caught the umbrella and cracked it. I wanted to replace it with a mosaic table because I’d been enjoying that art form recently. But I couldn’t get one the size I wanted so I got creative.
I spent a few weeks looking for tile and figuring out a very loose design concept. I started by picking a limited set of tile shapes and a color palette.
Once the tiles arrived I had a piece of particle board cut to size for the base and I experimented with different motifs until I settled on a selection of floral shapes that gave me plenty of variety to fill space without locking me into one repeating pattern.
And then I was off! I basically doodled my way around the table, attaching tiles with Weld Bond (I went through 4 full bottles!) and rocking out to the K-Pop Demon Hunters soundtrack.
Once the florals were done it was time for the background…
Over 3,800 1cm glass tiles make up the not-design part of the design. It went pretty quickly though because I just had to fill the space, leaving room for grout.
Once I had the tile done, my husband assisted with disassembly and reassembly. We used the legs off the original table for this one (waste not).
One huge bucket of black grout later…
She is finished.
I enjoyed making it and just looking at it makes me so happy - I can’t wait for all the dinners we’ll have around this table 🌼❤️
^^^ This. The COMBINED population of the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul) is only about 2.6 million. That's not small town numbers, sure, but compared to NYC (20.1 million in the metropolitan area)? LA? (12.9 million "")?
Minneapolis is being made an example of because they're the most bitesized target, and if you're doing a shock and awe campaign like this you need to not choke on national tv.
(And they're still having to fight for it. Minneapolis isn't taking this laying down, and more power to them for their courage.)
Just as a side note, ICE raids are currently also happening in Columbus OH- which is double the size of Minneapolis but still much smaller than Chicago or LA.
i'm super curious to see what the responses to this are
feel free to put why you do/don't shave your legs, or any other nuances in the tags! reblogs for reach are appreciated :)
Sometimes wild attraction shit happens when you learn to separate masc/fem from man/woman. I’ve known queer women find the femininity in a man attractive. I’ve known gay men get so hot and bothered by the masculinity of a woman.
There was once a guy who was not really my type but then he did drag and was suddenly wildly attractive to me. And since I’m bisexual it doesn’t give me a crisis when someone is suddenly hot to me in an unconventional way. I used to think this was particularly a bi experience.
Then I’ve met plenty of gay men and lesbians who are also chill about that sort of thing. Sometimes life is like that “oops made out with a twink in Brighton who turned out to be a lesbian who thought I was a lesbian” and sometimes it’s like “hey, I’m not normally into men but this guy has got something hot going on.”
So I could be a straight woman, and still find this hot?
1. Good choice
2. You can do whatever you want

Gorgeous!!!
I hate when you catch yourself having a thought that hints at deeper insanities than previously imagined
TBH those kinds of thoughts should be acknowledged - and treated as a symptom that signals that you need to evaluate your physical or mental health.
evaluated. it’s the ocd. on to the next question.
anyway I actually think it’s better advise to get into the habit of going “well that’s fucking stupid” and dismissing them immediately when you have these thoughts rather than ruminating on them, perhaps obsessively
Many years ago I saw an advice book for expectant fathers that had a question from a guy whose wife was visibly pregnant. He was anxious and embarrassed about going out in public with her because everyone could see the evidence that he'd had sex with his wife. Should he go out with her in public anyway? And the response was "Yes. Sometimes your feelings are stupid and wrong."
And that phrase has been my mantra against my bizarre anxieties and self-conscious paranoias ever since.
