Molten Plastic

lyrics

I grew up in Grimsby, and so I’m a Grimsby fan
It’s not a choice I made – it’s just a part of who I am
It isn’t world-class football but whenever times are good
we feel a joy inside that fake supporters never could

That bloke who checks his phone for all the headlines from Old Trafford
The closest that he’s been was just a conference in Stafford
Madrid fans in Mumbai, the Arsenal massive in Atlanta
never truly win at anything more meaningful than banter

Molten plastic
it’s up to you who you support
Molten plastic
but when the feeling comes up short
don’t blame me

Man United thought that Grimsby would show little to concern ’em
They thought without the likes of Tyrell Warren and Charles Vernam
The Reds fans with a rightful claim deserve your empathy
but the ones from Hull and Clacton can be chucked into the sea

Molten plastic
it’s up to you who you support
Molten plastic
but when the feeling comes up short
don’t blame me

[clap clap fish]

Cos proper fans have stronger hearts and chants that ring out louder
Football clubs aren’t chosen like a brand of washing powder
If you support the team that represents you, that’s fantastic
Respect goes to the proper fan but never to the plastic

Molten plastic
were you at Grimsby in the rain
Molten plastic
it’s not even real pain

Molten plastic
it’s up to you who you support
Molten plastic
but when the feeling comes up short
don’t blame me
