Do you know how weird it feels to casually make future plushie plans and feel like I’m thriving with my art career while ICE is threatening to go door to door for “immigrants” and “criminals” (visibly brown people) and I have to carry proof I’m American with me every time I go out? I say this specifically here because I know it’s a majority white American website. Like I already thought of who I would call and go stay with if I were to be deported lol. I’ve soothed myself with “maybe it wouldn’t be so bad as long as I don’t get shot at or disappear”. And it’s just annoying because my white peers do not have shit like this weighing on their mind, they can choose to just fucking draw

I cannot emphasize how much I’m literally a US citizen who speaks good english (with an accent, but it’s something) and these are the thoughts I’m having. Imagine how it feels when you’re actually an immigrant and you can barely parse what the masked trigger-happy asshole with a gun is screaming at you.

As long as we're doing Lilo and Stitch discourse, remember this:

Hawaii is stolen land.

1819: christian missionaries arrive in Hawaii. they ban alcohol, gambling, and dancing the hula. white businessmen arrive on the island and begin buying land.

1887: the king is forced at gunpoint to sign a new constitution. absolute monarchy is abolished. Hawaii becomes a constitutional monarchy where the right to vote is mostly exclusive to white men.

1893: coup d'etat. the queen is forced to abdicate. Hawaii becomes a republic. the first governor is a white man, the brother of the owner of Dole fruit company.

1898: with the support of the white government, president William McKinley annexes Hawaii as a US territory. As president, McKinley also annexed Puerto Rico, Guam, the Philippines, and American Samoa.

1901: McKinley is shot to death by anarchist Leon Czolgosz :) :) :)

1954: general strikes and protests against the white plantation owners. HUAC arrests the resistance leaders under the Smith Act for being communists. Nevertheless, the plantation owners are defeated. Voting rights are extended to native Hawaiians.

1959: Hawaii becomes a US state (upgraded from territory) with 93% of the popular vote.

2015: 95% of Hawaii's land is still owned by just 82 landholders :(

It is with a broken heart that we have to share the worst news imaginable with the NGU community. This weekend, the IOF bombed the neighborhood of Yahya Al-Habil and his family. Little Omar, Yahya’s 7-year-old brother who we have mentioned often, was martyred.

Both of Yahya’s brothers Khalil and Mohammed were being treated in different departments for the severe injuries they sustained from this attack, and did not get the chance to say goodbye to Omar. Their wounds were devastating, and both remain in very poor condition.

They now require ongoing, very expensive medical care, the sum of which for both their treatments is $10,000 usd. Donations have become stagnant and their situation is extremely desperate. Please help them survive and try to rebuild their lives.

Current: $6,538 of $15,480 usd—updated 31 Dec.

Need to raise: $8,942 usd

Previous updates are available here; vetting information in the last reblog; Khalil encourages anyone with questions to contact him on WhatsApp at +972 56-795-7368 for more information

Shrapnel damage from the bombardment that killed his baby brother caused injuries to Khalil’s liver and kidneys. These injuries have further deteriorated due to an inability to afford complete medical care. Both his kidneys and liver are now struggling. The untreated damage has progressed to the point that they are losing their ability to function.

🚨🚨These organs perform vital functions in the body. The body cannot function without them. If Khalil does not receive emergency intervention soon, he will die.🚨🚨

Current: $6,775 out of $7,738 usd (7 January)

Need to raise: $963 usd

As you might have seen from @futchdelight's post, my GoFundMe is now live! I've decided I want to live!

Since I've been nuked 5 times, many of you might not know about the lumps I found in my breast 9 months ago. I've been unable to get care here, so our goal is for me to return to Portland OR and bring my love and incredible caretaker Andrea with me so she can also have better job opportunities, safety, and health care.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any support!! 🫂🥹💞

The standoff with agents happened on Jan. 8, one day after an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Good in south Minneapolis. Wooten’s refusal to comply with ICE was captured on video and posted to Facebook.

The agents tried everything to intimidate the guard.

“You can’t come back here, bro,” Wooten can be heard in the video saying to an agent wearing a mask and sunglasses. “I’m talking to your manager,” the agent said. Wooten responded: “No, you’re talking to security, I’m in charge.”

ICE left empty-handed. Wooten said he just stood his ground, “10 toes down.”

“I was doing my job like I’m supposed to,’’ Wooten said. “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything. I just want to make my family safe because I’ve been here three years.”

I urge people to donate to Dem Bois, a non profit organization that provides trans masculine and trans men of color grants for transition related surgeries as well as care packages.

During the height of covid when I was unemployed and homeless, Dem Bois provided me with a care package that, more than anything, gave me hope to keep living and a reminder that my community exists and is one of perseverance and survival.

humans will see a cave and go in it

human from 40,000 years ago: oh sweet, a cave. I think I’ll go in there and draw on the walls.

human from modern times: oh sweet, a cave-like environment. I think I’ll go in there and draw on the walls.
