So oft it chances in particular men That through some vicious mole of nature in them, By the o'ergrowth of some complexion Oft breaking down the pales and forts of reason, Or by some habit grown too much; that these men— Carrying, I say, the stamp of one defect, Their virtues else—be they as pure as grace, Shall in the general censure take corruption From that particular fault.

Robert is honestly a good representation of functional depression(Speaking from experience). He brushes his teeth, he showers, he eats and he shows up to work and does his best. But none of that takes away from the pain he feels and carries with him every day. And it's not immediately obvious to most people that he's feeling this way. And none of it is more obvious than his house, he has no decorations, barely any furniture, his dog sleeps on a pillow, and he sleeps in a fucking lawn chair. When Royd and Courtney come to his house they pretty much say the same thing about how he lives like shit. He puts out a front which makes it look like he has it all together but just peer a little past the surface, and you'll see that's not true.
