For other things;

  • this blog does not tolerate racism, homophobia, aphobia, queerphobia, transphobia, intersexism or exorsexism.
  • no TERFs or SWERFs allowed, if i reblog from one let me know. radfeminism is dogshit.
  • transunity or bust.
  • pro-contact MAPs do not interact, please.
  • transandrophobia is real, i have personally faced transmasc-specific threats of violence, medical discrimination, etc, so it’d be pretty weird to pretend i haven’t. and it will be weird as fuck if you come onto my blog pretending the same. your mileage may vary on the verbiage itself but pretending transmascs and trans men don’t face unique transphobia is just foolish to me and i won’t entertain the topic. this concept does not “cancel out” transmisogyny, because that, too, is a very obviously real thing. we’re all in this together really
  • This is a personal blog not a discourse blog. if you show up on my untagged posts trying to misinterpret my words and argue with me about what you think im saying I will tell you to fuck off and block you. i have no patience for this shit. fuck you.
  • TME/TMA as it’s used on this website is a false binary people use as shorthand for “their oppression doesnt matter”/“their oppression does matter” and I have 0 time for it or people who defend it. y'all have warped useful terminology to once again exclude nonbinary people & reinvent the wheel on transphobia

i don’t discourse i just exist. if you disagree with my existence i won’t be letting you stay. simple-as. don’t block-evade you will not be more stubborn than i am.

i am bad at tagging things in an organization sense but you are always free to shoot me an ask requesting a trigger-tag and i will do my best to comply. i have memory issues though and if i keep forgetting please do unfollow me.

im bipolar w/CPTSD and sometimes i will be mentalillnessposting on main but if im talking about something heavy i always put it under a readmore with CWs. so you won’t be sniped with random traumadumping on your dash, promise.

I have OCD/guilt/morality issues, do not guilt trip me.

if i reblog something shitty, or post a fundraiser that’s actually a scam, please let me know! everyone has blind spots and i am not exempt. i would rather know than live in ignorance.

^^^ This. The COMBINED population of the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul) is only about 2.6 million. That's not small town numbers, sure, but compared to NYC (20.1 million in the metropolitan area)? LA? (12.9 million "")?

Minneapolis is being made an example of because they're the most bitesized target, and if you're doing a shock and awe campaign like this you need to not choke on national tv.

(And they're still having to fight for it. Minneapolis isn't taking this laying down, and more power to them for their courage.)

Just as a side note, ICE raids are currently also happening in Columbus OH- which is double the size of Minneapolis but still much smaller than Chicago or LA.

i love that my university is so intense abt email security that we like cant hardly do shit and constantly have to log back in with slow-to-respond 2FA but then theyre also like. clearly selling our data. cause how did booking dot com get my university email that i never use for anything but school. lmfao

this is esp funny to me bc they got salty that i kept flagging emails that deadnamed me as spam bc their department is transphobic and refused to let me have a preferred name at all/demanded proof that axel is "really my name" and "a name people actually use for me" (then wouldnt accept documents from my undergrad as proof LOL) so they revoked my ability to report anything as spam. so now i just have a ton of spam i cant report as spam bc theyre transphobic. sooooo glad i get my degree this year & dont have to put up with this BS anymore

pretty-little-martyr

whats also funny abt the deadnaming situation is before they removed my ability to manually report spam I put an automated script into Outlook to auto-flag all emails w “Hi, [deadname]” as spam bc they kept sending me more and more of those (and they were literally never important it was shit like “we have new merch!” and “here’s our undergrad events this month!”) n I’m lazy so I didn’t wanna keep manually doing it & they apparently either cant deactivate those or havent caught on yet. so. til i legally changed my name the uni was still sending emails that got automatically reported as spam <3 fuck y'all i still wonnnnnn

idgaf if i was making things harder for them the minute i made the mistake of telling them im trans they made shit harder for me

listen. There's a whole mentality shift that needs to happen culture wide here, from the schools to the public infrastructure to pet ownership to the justice system

The proper response to your dog doing a natural behavior you dislike (digging/barking/protecting etc) it to give them an appropriate time and place to engage in that behavior

The proper response to skateboarders damaging infrastructure is to build more and better skate parks, or build skate elements into the public infrastructure on purpose.

The proper response to homeless people sleeping on park benches is to build them houses.

you see how there's like, a commonality at play here?

The proper response to a disruption is to address the root of the disruption directly, not somehow attack the disruption itself -

you don't invent a muffler by swinging a bat at the engine noise, you don't relieve your hunger by punching yourself in the stomach, you don't resolve public unrest by sending armed men to control them and you don't prevent homeless people using bus shelters as a roof by removing the bus shelters.

a whole ass shift in a basic mindset, i'm tellin' you. We need it.

DO NOT CALL THE REGULAR POLICE.

they are not on your side.

lazorsandparadox

Very explicitly, in the video, the regular police straight up lie to the couple, telling them they will go to jail for harboring a fugitive if they dont hand the doordasher over, and that it doesnt matter if ice has a warrant for her arrest. NEITHER OF THESE THINGS ARE TRUE. You CANNOT be harboring a fugitive if the person you are haboring doesnt have a warrant out for their arrest! The warrant is what makes them a fugitive!

If ice wants access to someone on your property, do NOT hand them over unless you are shown a warrant signed by a judge! Make as much noise as you can to attract bystanders - it was the fact that a crowd gathered and started yelling at them that made ice leave in the video. And DO NOT expect the regular police to help you - they are just another arm of the state and will only do or say whatever they think is necessary to make you comply.

And make sure you film everything so you have evidence of what really happened if ice tries to enter your property illegally.

white americans when you tell them that the idea of climate change as an impending disaster is a reductive first world perspective because it’s a tangible reality for many in the global south already:

sillyguy-supreme

maybe if you see south and southeast asians dying in the heat and latin americans dying in floods and all you think of is imagining a reality where YOU are affected, then you should rethink how you see people of color. if you cannot see climate change as a real disaster until it is other americans dying in the heat and the floods and not just black and brown people, then don’t talk about climate change until you can acknowledge the grim reality of climate change for everyone.

I really wish I could get behind the idea that the current transandrophobic discourse will go the way of ace and bi discourse, but TRFs are making names for themselves in actual transfeminist theory. Respected trans journalists are spreading anti-transmasc talking points. I don't think this is simply going to fade away as part of the cycle of discourse.

I hate feeling like I'm a doomer about this, but the bi and ace discourse felt way more like primarily online queer discourse to me while I see transandrophobic sentiments and continued transmasc/nb erasure everywhere, not just on social media. I don't want to discount the prevalence of bi- and ace- phobia and erasure (I am bi and ace), but, by and large, anti-transmasculinity feels way more baked into feminism, and our erasure when we are explicitly relevant more normalized in society.

This isn't just Tumblr discourse, and I've seen more people recognizing it and pushing back on it (in proportion to how much I've seen anti-transmasculinity) here than I have anywhere else so far.

Everything I've talked about is still all technically online, since I haven't been able to get out to queer spaces irl, but I'm not just talking about medium article journalists or academics (not that they're inherently lesser). I think this is a more widespread problem than some people on here seem to think it is.

therapatical

I think the issue is honestly that

1. bi and ace activism and sources have been prevalent even during the online discourse, and the support systems were there already prior to tumblr's hate campaigns against them (I remember hearing about AVEN in 2010). they're more robustly able to combat misinformation and disinformation due to both sheer numbers and better social infrastructure to combat it.

2. bi and ace discourse often involved creating brand new narratives in order to discount bi and ace identities. there wasn't the convenient cut-and-paste formula that TRFs have access to. it's a lot easier for TRFs to get buy-in from mainstream feminism because their narrative makes more intuitive sense solely due to familiarity; "women oppressed by men" is a narrative that is already well known and established in pericis feminism.

asking people to apply it wholesale to trans people is an easier "ask" than asking those same people to dismantle their entire ideas of manhood and womanhood and gender as a whole to account for the fact that there are some men who are, in fact, capable of being oppressed by (pericis) women.

additionally, while there are some people who certainly do have negative attitudes or jealousy towards trans women, it's frankly less of a blow to one's ego to allow trans women into the feminist fold, as it doesn't immediately register that they are capable of oppressing trans women. they just see it as letting another woman into the group. it isn't until trans women point out transmisogyny etc., that these pericis feminists must then grapple with the fact that they are capable of being oppressors to trans people. but if they're oppressors only to trans women, then that still salvages enough of their ego to prevent total collapse of the entire gender system. it threatens it enough, and many will not handle it, but many will allow it because it doesn't quite cross their personal threshold for identity disruption.

a lot of pericis women place their identity in womanhood on their oppression, even if they aren't TERFs. when you shake the ground underneath them, they often don't like it. only some of those will lash out. people react differently. this is why they also will try to recategorize some nonbinary transmascs into the "woman lite" category; it is them attempting to avoid confronting the inaccuracies of their gendered system in the first place. they're doing something very mentally similar in regards to trans women, people just see it as more noticable when it's nonbinary people who aren't women because it ends up turning into misgendering of a sorts.

but, when it comes to trans men (& more masc presenting trans people, including some transfems), the semantic "woman" is no longer available to offload the cognitive dissonance into, and therefore they immediately confront what it must mean to their identity if a man (or masculine person) can be oppressed by a woman (or feminine person). they are forced to confront their identity and the oppression dynamics instantly, in a way that they can kinda conveniently avoid doing if they hang onto semantic labels. that's why you see so much avoidance-based behavior and ignoring-type behavior from them. you are a walking representation of their fears that they don't want to confront. you represent the unknown aspects of their own ego that they don't like, as they feel insecure suddenly when realizing they are capable of being an oppressor as well. and, to be fair, they exhibit this same behavior towards trans women to varying degrees. it's just not often an immediate realization. it comes out later, as I said before. the ego complex of victim gets dismantled and that's incredibly uncomfortable, so they do everything to avoid that discomfort.

bi and ace discourse has elements of this, but there's no convenient pre-determined narrative to latch onto based on semantic connections. TRFs can appeal to the desire to not confront one's own cognitive dissonance about oppression much more readily because the words match up. that's literally it. it's a small difference but we are not particularly grand creatures with uber-rational minds, and those small subtlies can literally be the difference between social movements that do well and that don't, regardless of how we feel like people should act and behave.

learn-how-to-love

Something that happens to trans men and mascs when we come out is a sudden loss of support services we had when we were still perceived as women. Scholarships, housing, resources we might once have relied on for survival are now either barred from us or require us to endure subtle or overt misgendering in order to maintain access. Even for programs inclusive of all trans identities, it can require outing oneself which can be very dangerous for those forced to be stealth for survival. And unlike cis men, trans men and mascs do not have access to a lifetime of privileges afforded by the patriarchy. We may have had to cut contact with everyone we once knew, pick and choose who we interact with to prevent being outed and, in many cases, are very visibly trans regardless. We started out oppressed by the patriarchy, and now that we’ve transitioned we still are but now without access to resources that would be given to us unquestionably had we stayed “women”. It’s one of the biggest contributing factors to why ftm detransitioners are relatively more common, some people simply can’t afford to live their lives authentically when it means losing access to their means of survival.

nothing-where

i think the thing that really frustrates me about the people who chant that transandrophobia isnt real is how deliberately and maliciously you have to miss the point to have that stance.

"you cant create a term without implying cis men are also marginalized" - but theres no way to untangle being trans from being a man in this case. "being trans" and "being a man" mean the same thing here. any transphobia trans men experience is them facing oppression for being men. this doesnt magically make it so cis men are oppressed too - you are either making or falling for bad faith arguments. its, like, a textbook straw man. "oh, so youre saying all men are oppressed just for being men? even cishet men?" no literally no one is saying that and even if they are they arent representative of the entire community and its neither productive nor logical to dismiss the entire conversation because you met a few trans men who had some bad takes and/or were pretty annoying
