95% of tumblr has never lived with someone who's "thinks they alone can literally see the future therefore everyone has to listen to them first and foremost and feels disrespected when someone suggests that's not true" mentally ill or "get a hammer and try to nail blankets to the walls over the windows before barging into people's rooms to take their lights out because they think someone is after them" mentally ill. I feel like a lot of people lack nuance when it comes to the topic of maintaining relationships with mentally ill people, cause like the reality is it really can be extremely painful and exhausting. Doubly so when you're mentally ill yourself. But there's people who act like you're a horrible person if you can only handle so much.

I feel like it's because a lot of these people are only around people with anxiety and depression, maybe some mild quiet BPD. If you had a friend or family member who was schizophrenic or adjacently mentally ill you would likely be more understanding. Like I have a brother who literally got rid of my cat because he thought she was speaking to him and found out she was evil and draining the energy of the people around her. And like we can have a conversation about how much of their behavior is their fault, but the behavior hurts all the same.
