He is rather afraid of his landlady, for he is a timid chap in spite of a good front. When she demands her pay, he begs hard and gets off for this time. He secures an engagement in stock and the first play is to be Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. He has played the part before and hunts up the false teeth that are a large part of the Hyde makeup. The landlady, looking through the transom, is almost scared to death. He sees that she is afraid of Hyde and carries around the false teeth as a protection. Instead of paying his bill he could even borrow money from her if he wanted to. Then comes the opening night and the landlady is in the audience. She realizes that she has been tricked and when he comes home there is a heart-rending scene, and she even takes the teeth away from him. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
