He fears that the situation isn't fully resolved. Lorraine arrives at Hope Memorial looking for Mike, and a nurse says that a nasty man was looking for Mike earlier. Mona continues to express dismay at Carolee for deeming Steve a playboy. Steve finally confesses to her that he fathered Stephanie, and Dan Allison died from a heart attack. However, he doesn't tell Mona about Dan's death initially being a suspected murder for which he was arrested. Mona decides that if Carolee had trusted Steve in the first place, they could have avoided any problems they had getting together. Claiming jet lag, she makes a hasty exit to go upstairs and lie down. Carolee expresses annoyance over Steve failing to tell Mona the whole story about Dan's death. A distraught Lorraine interrupts Vito and Toni, saying she's desperate to find Mike because her husband's there to snatch Mary Nell. While the desk nurse has her back to the door, Al sneaks into Mary Nell's room, threatens her to be quiet, and takes her from the room unnoticed. Mike arrives moments later and calls for security when he realizes Mary Nell is gone. Toni, Vito, and Lorraine get there seconds later to hear the news that child is missing.
