Explicit, canon divergent, time travel, Cas is literally the sweetest and so full of love
Summary:
Dean’s your typical half-orphaned, monster-killing 22-year-old until a trenchcoated stranger crashes into his back windshield one September night, claiming he’s an angel that knows him from the future and that he’s on the run. Frigging fantastic. (Or, in which Castiel gets stuck in Dean’s timeline preseries and Dean kind of hates it—until he doesn’t.)
Review:
An all-time favorite fic. The plot is out of this world and is basically a canon AU version of events. Castiel has so much unconditional love for Dean in this fic and it gives me the most soft, contented feeling. This feels like the canon I always wanted where Cas has been in love with Dean forever and never knew that he could have what he wanted. Feels just right.

Summary:
After Bucky was released from the hospital, it only took him a couple of weeks to give up on himself. Difficult to believe in any kind of future when the simple act of staying alive was almost too big an effort. Out the frosted window, across the street, there was a tiny homeless guy burrowing under an awning.
Review:
This is easily one of the best fics I've ever read in all my life. It's so delicate and beautiful, the writing is fantastic, and it made me feel all sorts of emotions. I love this fic with my whole heart and you absolutely should read it.

This fic feels realistic in how this would happen both in-universe and in real life. Ilya is so sweet and desperate to comfort Shane in this one and it's so good. I still think about the ending lines being so in-character.

Explicit, AOS canon, accidental bond, pon farr, temporary spock/other
Summary:
As the five-year mission gets underway, Kirk and Spock are on course to develop a friendship--or something--that will define them both. Then, a poorly-timed away mission changes everything. Before they can begin to deal with the fallout, Jim disappears. With his captain presumed dead, Spock has no choice but to accept a promotion and try to move on. But when he starts experiencing disturbing visions, he gradually begins to suspect that Jim may be alive after all. (A canon-divergent AU assuming they began the 5-year mission following STXI.)
Review:
I love this fic so much. I just like that Kirk is the one pining in secret for most of the fic and the plot is spectacular. One-sided pining for a while and then it's requited. Anyway, I love the suspense, the build up, and every other detail of this fic.

Mature, canon divergent, human castiel, Dean and Cas in the bunker dealing with their emotions, depression, allusions to suicide but no actual discussion or portrayal
Summary:
His grace is burning out, and the wasteland it leaves inside him becomes an echo chamber for all the memories, all the fear and doubt and self-loathing he's collected over the years. Things said and done hound him on endless repeat until he's convinced they’ll break through his skin and fill the silence of the bunker.
His head is killing him, and he sits hunched over an open book, not really reading, just digging his fingers into his skull and praying nothing slips through the cracks.
Review:
This is another all-time favorite fic ever written. It's so beautifully written and the introspective prose feels genuinely profound. Both Dean and Cas are coping with their losses and are depressed while trying to help each other. This fic brought tears to my eyes at the end because of how hopeful it was despite all the struggles these characters went through. Truly a hidden gem and well worth the read.

Review:
This is my favorite fic, it's just wonderful. Sherlock was born deaf, but everything else is basically the same. The deafness is not played off as a hindrance to Sherlock's abilities and John is so accomodating and loving. Sherlock's disability is perfectly nuanced and it's the most sweet, loving thing I've ever experienced. They're both just so good to each other and it makes me so happy to read this.

It’s been two days now. He knows it would be logical to get out of the city, but he’s waiting for something. Against everything he knows about hiding, he went to the exhibit on Captain America at the Smithsonian and looked at a photo of a stranger who might have been his twin from seventy years ago. He’s not sure what he wanted. An epiphany of some kind, a feeling of doors opening and light flooding in; whatever it was, it never came.
Review:
This fic is so delicate and Bucky is so slow to gain back his memories. It's absolutely beautiful and exactly what I want in a post CA:TWS fic. This fic just leaves me so tranquil and happy every time I read it.

"'Spock,' Jim breathes out, completely overwhelmed by the gesture—not quite believing that Spock knows him so well, that's he's already started researching, that he trusts Jim with a member of his own endangered species." When Jim gets it in his head to adopt an eight year old Vulcan, Spock presents a logical solution to the issue of Jim's humanity: marriage to a Vulcan citizen.
Review:
This is the only kidfic I've ever read, and boy was it amazing. It's so pleasant and Good™ and uplifting. I was smiling as I read most of it and I love the relationship that forms between Sorek and his two dads!! It's just a wonderful read that's filled with so many tropes and cliches, but I love it so much.

"Right," Dean says eventually, gruffly. He looks down at his shoes. "I'm not gonna tell you how to live your life, man. It's—you know, yours. Do your thing, love who you love, whatever. I can't really stop you from loving me, if that's what you've decided to do, but I don't—I can't—" "I know," Castiel murmurs, still just smiling a little, not looking heartbroken at all. "Don't worry about it, Dean, that's all I ask." "So we're—" Dean risks a glance up, swallowing thickly. "We're good?" Castiel hums. "We're good."
Review:
This fic is SO GOOD and an all-time fave. Exactly the way I want their relationship to be post-confession. Cas is so earnest and head over heels during this whole story. Everything in this fic is a little bit funny and extremely heartwarming. Cas is so open about his feelings and he is just the sweetest. Dean's repression is handled SO WELL in this fic, I can't praise it enough. It feels like the perfect way for Dean to come to terms with his feelings in a realistic way. I also really like Sam in this fic and that's rare for this genre.

One security camera. One leaked video. One choice that changes everything. Ilya Rozanov loses his country, his team, and his shot at Olympic gold in a single night. But he doesn’t lose Shane, and that makes all the difference. A story about finding home in a person, not a place. About choosing love over legacy. And about winning the medal you never knew you needed, standing next to the one person who matters most.
Review:
This fic is very sappy and sweet and they get married. Perhaps not the most realistic, but it's like wish fulfilment where everything is perfect and everyone accepts them by the end.

Five years later, they see each other at a party. ++ It seemed to Bucky that there had to be a certain all-encompassing awkwardness in going up to the guy you loved best when you were twelve and saying “Hey buddy, remember me?”
Review:
This is a fantastic college AU with great characterization. Steve and Bucky's friendship is really cute as kids and they have a great dynamic when they meet again. There is a misunderstanding that separates them for a while and it's frustrating, but they resolve it and come back stronger because of it.

Review:
This fic can be a bit hard to get through at points because there's a lot of arguing and misunderstandings between Jim and Winona. He was abused in the past and never forgave her for her role in it. The whole dynamic with Jim in this fic is so good, even if it's painful at times. Spock is honestly just Jim's protector and it's really sweet. But Bucky is exhausted and hungry and so sore it hurts to move, and one of the guys in their platoon fucking died yesterday. His mouth tastes like iodine water and his feet hurt and none of it’s going to get better any time soon, and all at once Bucky misses Steve so badly he can barely see straight. “Yeah,” Bucky declares abruptly, the word escaping from his mouth before he fully realizes what he’s saying. “Yeah, I do.”

After an awkward accidental encounter at a local strip club, Castiel discovers his college roommate, Dean, has a secret career as a stripper, and their relationship begins to change and a bond begins to form. They face the joys and challenges of life together and discover along the way how deeply they've come to care for each other.

This is a favorite AU fic. There's lap dances and absolute unconditional love galore. Dean and Cas just love each other so much and it's so genuinely soft. There's also a fantastic slow build to the relationship that is just so good.

Explicit, Sam and Cas share a body, possible incest triggers (see below)
Summary:
Purged of all his souls, Castiel is a changed being, stronger than an angel and too powerful for Jimmy's body to contain. Happily, there's an archangel's vessel on hand, and he could use fixing, too. Dean isn't too happy about the idea of his brother acting as a vessel for Castiel, and Sam can guess why, but it isn't until Castiel gets inside his head and they learn to share the vessel -- and their thoughts -- that Sam realises Cas is as in love with Dean as Dean is with him. It's unfortunate that there's nothing much to be done about it now, but Castiel will get another vessel soon. The Winchesters will make damn sure of that. In the meantime, it's up to the three of them to establish their own strange accord, and Dean realises more fully than ever that it's Castiel, and not his vessel, that he loves.
Review:
DISCLAIMER (WITH A SPOILER): There's some kissing and an accidental orgasm between Cas and Dean while Cas is controlling Sam's body. However, Cas gets his own body back after this. If you're triggered by the incestuous nature of this, maybe skip this one.

Basically Cas loses his vessel and shares Sam's body for a little while while he also finds out that he's in love with Dean. It's a beautifully done fic and I swear there's no consent issues with the body sharing, everything is addressed and treated properly.

Summary:
The soul bomb doesn't work, and God is going to die, but Amara has a soft spot for Dean. She gives him the gift of time: the end of the world will be slow. Dean, Cas, and Sam travel the country in the breaking-down Impala to get in one last road trip and help their scattered friends wherever they can. Between looted gas stations and empty motels without wi-fi, monsters even more monstrous than usual, and heat so stifling not even Dean can wear more than one layer, they're fucked. Unless they're not. Unless Billie the reaper is right and Cas has something amazing up his sleeve. Dean just has to get his head out of his ass and accept that the power of love might not be a total load of crap after all.
Review:
I was immediately absorbed in the plot of this fic and it stayed super engaging throughout. It had amazing world-building, characterizations, and story. Castiel's confession is really great and felt so close to canon (especially now that we know Cas has loved Dean all along). Just a very creative plot that makes for a fun read.

Review:
This fic is such a tender, loving, and soft fic about Dean raising an adorable baby Jack, but it's sad as hell until the end. Dean deals with grief and reflects on childhood trauma, but he's such a good dad and his relationship with baby Jack is just the sweetest thing ever. The end makes it all worth it. There's also a nice sequel fic, but this can be read alone, too.

It's Cas.
The Empty sends Castiel back different.
Review:
There is a lot of gender exploration in this fic and that's my favorite part. Cas is returned in his 1901 female vessel and Dean keeps braiding his hair. There's mutual pining and Cas settles into gender nonconformity. Dean is explicitly bisexual and he knows this about himself, which is always refreshing. Sam's involvement in this fic is also good and he's supportive in the right ways.

Between Cas' lost grace, and Dean's accidental confession to Sam, it's been the same overbearing concern - that Dean really, really does not need - for weeks. Now they must work a case together, where married couples are dying mysterious deaths and the only way to earn the neighbors' trust is by pretending to be married. As Dean and Cas navigate this fake, but all too real, relationship, can they find the monster that is on a mysteriously motivated killing spree before it’s too late?

I'm just gushing at how adorably good fathers John and Sherlock make for baby Olivia. It's absolutely wonderful and you will be so happy you read it. It's got an amazing slow build and John has his realizations as his wedding with Mary approaches. No worries, there's a happy ending! They're just so inimate and loving of each other before anything even happens between them and I love everything about that. John's constant mantra of I'm not in love with him is also really beautiful and I just can't say enough good things about this fic.

And that’s when it started. The understanding. He was happy. Happiness, that for years had been elusive, well before his emotions had started to flee as his strength came into full fruition. It was unnerving to be aware of this fact, as if acknowledging it would mean it would slip nimbly from his grasp, fleeing as unbidden as it had come. One day, he would come to a scene and Genos would be totally gone, the story of a flash of brilliance as his disciple supernovaed for the good of mankind on the lips of all bystanders… One day, Genos would leave him, and Saitama would sink back into the cold, emotionless world that had been akin to hell.

Summary:
Saitama and Genos are happy with their current level (read: lack) of sexual intimacy. Genos is also happy 'knowing' that becoming a cyborg halted his development into a mature omega. Unknown to both him and his beta partner, the conversion only delayed it. His body cannot detect the shift in hormones as he finally nears his first cycle – but Saitama can, and has no clue how to deal with it. TL;DR – demi!Genos has his first heat. Ace!Saitama helps him through it.

An infinite number of scenarios generated by a brain with an unending capacity to process them. None of which would ever, ever happen. Now he could feel a stirring sensation in the hoses and metal of his guts, most definitely a construct of his brain implant and not the result of any of his core systems malfunctioning. A tightening in his chest, pain where he'd never felt it before. Could you program heartache into a system of wires and tubes? I remember following the weekly updates on ff.net for this fic when I was 15. I think I've mentioned that hollycomb is my favorite author, and this is more proof. I don't care which characters they write about, just that it's their work. Anyway, this fic literally makes me feel sick when I read it because it affects me so viscerally. It's an incredible work of fiction and I don't think I'll entirely get it out of my head. If you're looking for something so profound that you'll never get over it, read this fic. Mature, WIP, huge expansive fantasy AU, so much action and not a lot of romance, amazing worldbuilding, clan abilities instead of ninjutsu, arranged marriage, tons of fight scenes, TW: references to pedophilia
Summary:
Naruto looked through the haze of the battlefield smoke, not taking his eyes from the pale-skinned man with the jet-black hair standing before him. They had both been fighting the same enemy, but that did not automatically make them friends. Naruto was exhausted, but he knew better than to show weakness to a potential adversary. Instead, he drew on his power, using the moments of stillness to draw more energy in from around them. The air stilled and crackled with it. A warning to the man not to take him lightly. Sasuke’s dark eyes seemed to swirl, then bled red with black commas forming a pattern in the iris. Only one clan that he’d heard of had eyes like that. Naruto gripped the hilt of his sword tighter. He only hoped that the man facing him hadn’t heard that the alliance between their clans had fallen through. And that Naruto was the one who’d broken it.

I love the dynamic in this fic and the translation to college AU is flawless in its characterization. The one line about Shikamaru smoking a joint on the couch and not sharing with anyone else had me laughing so hard. Sasuke is a broody emo guy that falls for his best friend, the jock frat guy. The dialogue and the pacing of this fic is great. Genuinely hilarious writing that is crafted beautifully. Their FWB relationship just happens and then they have to deal with the fallout. But most importantly, his advisor at the door incessantly knocking away, voice a touch peeved and grating through the thick doors of the Hokage office.
Review:
Another FWB situation, this time in canon. I like the set-up of this one. Naruto is really oblivious until he suddenly isn't. This one feels much more casual than the others since Sasuke just goes for it and doesn't care. Idk, it's a fun time and they figure it out eventually.

What are you supposed to do when it's been nearly four years and you're given the opportunity to have sex with your high school crush? Sasuke wasn't completely sure, but starting up a no-strings-attached relationship with said high school crush probably wasn't the best way to go about things.
Review:
Yet another FWB fic where Sasuke is fucking savage both in his initial pursuit of Naruto and his behavior during the arrangement. Kinda wishy-washy on the concept of dating someone who used to bully you for being gay, but this fic makes me believe their specific situation isn't built on resentment. I wanted Sasuke to apologize sincerely to Hinata at the end, but I feel it's more in-character for him to be a dick about it. Idk, it's a good fic.

If you want the absolute truth, I'll explain. My friend and I were looking up the weirdest fanfic we could find (it's our favorite game), so I go to the 1D tag. I'm scrolling through the most popular fics and there's some doozies, let me tell you. So I saved this one for later to skim through. I started scrolling through it and I actually started reading instead of skimming. I spent an entire day reading this fic when I should've been studying for an exam and it was actually worth it?? I could not possibly know less about 1D or this particular pairing, but this is a great fic. Idk what else to say, it's just done well and it held my attention for 158k words. There's some really common tropes in here and some of the characters use (what I would imagine are) fandom terms, which was kind of odd, but I was able to look past it.
