Also I need to scream with y'all about the tiniest change in Shane’s demeanor when he found out that Ilya had abstained from sex since the last time they were together before the cottage, before Shane’s injury on the ice, and BEFORE Ilya’s dad died.
Before Shane finds out he’s a bit awkward but he’s excited and eagerly returning Ilya’s kisses but he doesn’t seem AS desperate to get his dixk wet as Ilya does.
But afterwards when Shane offers to show Ilya his room and Ilya mentioned how he needed a king-sized bed, a room with a view, and an en-suite bathroom Shane just looks so horny and so turned on. His eyes keep dropping down to Ilya’s lips, and his tone is very coy and flirtatious and he’s smiling so much. He even initiates a bit of flirty roleplay.
Also when Ilya pushes him down on the bed he purrs.
I firmly believe that Ilya admitting to basically being monogamous all of a sudden made Shane insanely horny. Especially considering they had no expectations of commitment.
we all understand that by asking about shane’s relationships with women that ilya wasn’t “telling him to go get a girlfriend” right. like we all understand that he grew up in a country where what they’re doing is illegal and his dad and brother are cops. right. we all understand that that entire conversation was not ilya trying to “make shane jealous” but was a very strategic and careful way of saying “i’m bisexual. are you, too? because i really like you/what we’re doing” without having to say the word because that’s dangerous. and that his jealousy around rose is not because she’s a woman but more so because ilya understands shane, and therefore knows he doesn’t do casual relationships, and he is sick from the nauseating idea that because shane is in a very public relationship that must mean he is in love with someone else. who is not ilya. ilya, who just basically spilled his feelings all over the place by planning a date, and exposing vulnerabilities, and sighing “fuck, shane” only for shane to immediately panic and end things and leave. that would certainly lend itself to some hurt and confusion. like we all get that… right?
outside of the obvious reasons why the hollanov relationship reveal must be crazy to shane’s parents, it’s gotta be wild to them that their shy, awkward kid is dating the league slut. their kid, who cannot even say the word “sex” without blushing, has been fucking a man whose sexual reputation is a topic of conversation. for a decade. they are in fact on a sexcation together. if you want to see them, you need to text them that you’re on your way there, because even if they know you’re coming in advance, they cannot keep their hands off of each other long enough to properly keep track of time. david hollander sees things start to heat up between them and knows instantly that they have probably fucked against every window in that extremely glass house.
idk i’m obsessed with how shane bringing ilya home is not just him coming out as gay, it’s him coming out as an experienced sex freak.
one of my serious favorite things abt heated rivalry is that they’re still acting during sex. this seems obvious maybe but i think during a lot of movie sex scenes, actors revert to typical, expected mannerisms, where as connor storrie and hudson williams have specific mannerisms specifically for their characters that reflect their internal struggles/truths/experiences. this is difficult to talk about because people think i’m joking/don’t take it seriously bc it’s sex, but i’m serious. it’s easily noticeable from connor storrie - ilya likes watching himself go in & out of shane & looks down to see it quite often; ilya likes groping shane’s chest; ilya makes that one face all the time; ilya likes putting his fingers in shane’s mouth. but it’s also apparent from hudson williams - shane is very repressed and stunted about his pleasure at the beginning of each scene, but loses himself/relaxes continuously (particular favorite of mine is the first time they go all the way - shane is at first annoyed/embarrassed by ilya repeatedly asking him if he’s okay [shane’s complicated relationship with masculinity] but by the end is just moaning and has allowed himself to go lax, facedown); shane is clearly learning tricks from ilya (ex. the chest groping & fingers in mouth); shane gets overwhelmed when he looks at ilya for too long during sex and has to look away or close his eyes.
i just have an insane amount of respect for these guys. and i could make a whole other post about how they use sex to show the shifting dynamics in shane & ilya’s relationship and especially the significance of sex in episode six
