i know we all talk about or reference dennis being homeless, but I still think we brush over how much an experience like that is actually going to affect him (or anyone) in a way that is likely permenant.
don’t get me wrong i love dennis and trinity bestfriendisms and roomate saga with my whole heart, but dennis is still going to be suffering because of his time without a home.
he’s gone, at the very very very least, six weeks without permenant shelter (he did his internal medicine rotation before the ER, as he told trinity). that’s at least 6 weeks unable to recieve any post. unable to recieve medicine he might need. unable to apply for numerous legal documents that all require addresses. at least 6 weeks not knowing if he’ll be discovered and lose his shelter, AND his position and possibly his place on the medicine track for doing something technically illegal.
at the very least 6 weeks with not knowing where he’ll be tomorrow. no permenance, no security, no place to rest. and he’s STILL showing up to work and actually being incredibly skillful (despite his liquid blunders in s1).
he can’t cook proper meals in a hospital room. it’s implied he doesn’t have a proper shower. he’s living in constant fear of losing literally everything he’s worked years for. and based on what we know, its incredibly unlikely he has a stable family to fall back on in Nebraska.
and he’s STILL working. was planning on staying there. was ready to risk losing that “home” if they needed to transport patients to the 8th floor when he suggested it in the MCI.
he might live with trinity now, but there’s no way he’s stable and secure, even if they’re close like siblings. he’ll be resource hoarding, he’ll be saving every scrap of money he can, he’ll be relishing every hot shower he gets. he will not be carefree and relaxed. that’s a fear and insecurity thats going to stay with him possibly his whole life.
i just think we can’t ever happy go luckily write him as no longer being afraid or destabilised, even if visibly he’s healthier. with him not paying rent in the appartament, although she wont, trinity could kick him out at any time.
he’s going to live in a state of anxiety maybe without even realising that’s what he’s doing.
robby the type to call pup!den my darling boy, my sweet pup, my beautiful baby, and under the influence of the pittlings jack is the type to call him scrunkly. giggleshitter. anklebiter. scruffy little mutt. dennis is just happy to be there because no matter what they call him it’s always cooed at him in the way that makes him so so fuzzy he can hardly register the words anyways :3
‘how would you describe the male friendships within the pitt?’
WHEN MY TWO FAVOURITE THINGS COLLIDE
walk with me here….
Dennis is slowly getting more and more annoyed with the new AI system that he’s supposed to listen to
Then, after a patient almost dies due to the AI system recounting patient history incorrectly, which leads to the wrong treatment, Dennis punches a wall in frustration
Everyone’s staring in shock, because they’ve been getting annoyed too, but they’re surprised that kind and patient Whitaker, who kinda fades into the background, visibly shows any anger
Dennis takes a few deep breaths, apologizes with a practiced smile, and walks away to check in on his patients, paying no mind to a spindly crack on the wall from where he punched
He’s muttering about the bad structural integrity of the building cause his hand doesn’t hurt nearly as much as it probably should
Dennis is the type of man to try the food challenges at restaurants to get a free meal and like 95% of the time he wins them. After living with 3 older brothers and a limited amount of food Whitaker can EAT. Santos takes him out every once in a while to watch him demolish a 2 pound burrito or a 3 pound burger. It’s a fan favorite on her Instagram story.
Then one day the crew goes out to eat after a shift, mostly the students and Robby who’s paying. They go to a little Italian joint which just so happens to have a food challenge. Dennis is so embarrassed but all the med students make him go for it.
Santo’s instagram story is 5 parts of her hysterically laughing as she films Dennis eating 2 chicken cutlets, 2 fat meat balls, 3 spicy sausages 1 plate of gnocchi and 1 plate of spaghetti. She keeps panning around to catch everyone’s reactions, mostly focusing on Robby who’s facial expressions shift from laughing along to worried to horrified to impressed to *aroused*??
Dennis finally finishes the challenge with just 1 minute to spare and the group cheers like he just won the Olympics. Dennis is leaning back in his seat hands in his hair before rubbing down his chest and stomach. Robby is all eyes for that part.
The last part of her story is a video of Dennis smiling for a picture to hang on the restaurant’s wall, he’s still in his scrubs and he’s grinning so wide. Robby is in the background looking at him with so much affection. Dennis gets a new sleep shirt with the restaurants goofy slogan and Robby can’t help but think about what Dennis looks like wearing it at home.
Grover and Tyson calling Sally:
if you guys see me hornyposting no you don’t. unless you do and you like it. then. yeah.
Need to practice drawing so I can draw Stiles in Peds scrubs with a lil fox and puppy on the pockets. Like he would look great. Then Dennis in the background in EM scrubs covered in blood. The duality of them.
