but it's our way to never stay
I’m so excited to finally share this! Here is my piece for the @aftgbigbang. This art accompanies the awesome story by @belladonna-queen. If you like magic and werewolves then you should read it right now!
Enjoyed this so much
Okay, enough of "what are the best/worst books you've read", I want to know what your favourite comfort books to reread are. What are the books you turn to and turn to again because they scratch a particular itch and make you feel a particular kind of joy? No justification required, no "I know it's bad but" or "I know the plot is stupid but", just the ones that you keep coming back to because they make you happy?
Dragonsinger by Anne McCaffrey. I have a copy that has traveled the world with me so I always have my comfort read.
Starting 2026 with a new drawing — Andrew in a corset. Can we all agree this is incredibly beautiful? Also, happy New Year to everyone 💫 Hope this year treats you kindly 🖤

The little girl’s name is Butedmaa and she was just 5 when this picture was taken in 2003 by Han Chengli.
(I used to have a printout of this at my desk at work because I just loved looking at it so much.)
I love that I have just learned more about a picture that brings me joy every time I see it!

So awesome!
I’m noticing an increase in new fic writers on AO3 who…uh…mayy not know how to format their fics correctly..so here is a quick and VERY important tip
Using a random fic of mine as example..
The left example: ✅✅✅
The right example: ❌❌❌
Idk how many times I’ve read a good fic summary and been so excited to read before clicking on it and being met with an ugly wall of text. When I see a huge text brick with zero full line breaks my eyes blur and I just siiiigh bc either I click out immediately or I grin and bear it…it’s insufferable!
If a new character speaks, you need a line break. If you notice a paragraph is becoming too large, go ahead and make a line break and/or maybe reconfigure the paragraph to flow better. I’m not a pro writer or even a huge fic writer but…please…ty…
This is a good thing to keep in mind! It is often and unfortunate that a really good fic doesn’t get love because its formatting makes it too difficult to read!
important to note tho that if you’re using google docs for example and you manually add a space after each paragraph it’ll make the gap between paragraphs even wider on ao3 (which i personally dont like). so my google doc will look like the one on the right, then come out looking like the one on the left on ao3, by using the RICH TEXT NOT HTML. if you paste your formated fic into the html box it will destroy your formatting (italics, bold, etc) and count new paragraphs as <br> rather than <p> which is why you get a wall of text!!!
if you want your gdocs to look like the one on the left without using the extra paragraph space, ctrl a to select your whole doc, then under line spacing hit “add a space after paragraphs”. write your fic as normal, add your formatting and italics for that “Oh. Oh.” goodness, then crtl a, ctrl c, then ctrl v into the rich text box on ao3
Quick FYI to the above point: Specifically copy pasting from Google Docs into the Rich Text formatter isn’t super reliable for preserving bold and italics. Sometimes even if it LOOKS fine while in the Rich Text Format box, when you post or preview it, it won’t be on there. There’s other workarounds for this but I’m gonna save a life and just link the Google Docs AO3 provides with a Script Built in to translate everything to HTML for you.
YEAH AO3 just made a thing that’ll fix pretty much very weird Google Docs pasting formatting thing for you. I didn’t even know this until I saw an old post where someone mentioned it because it’s only linked deep in their FAQ page.
It works GREAT, I’ve used it for years. I tend to add an extra link break between paragraphs myself, this also corrects that. Pretty much the only thing it will not correct for you is horizontal line dividers, still gotta do that manually, but yeah! It’s real good. Please use this.
And also just best practice, even though this is reliable: be sure to preview your fic before you post it so you make sure it looks how you want it. It’s just a good habit to get into.
