Always present yourself well: being clean, smelling good, having your hair done, great jewels and a simple but well fitting outfit is better than having your makeup done. Be kind, but step up for yourself. Set boundaries. No means no. Don’t over explain yourself, ever. To anyone. Do not lower your standards. Be honest, own your personality, never be ashamed of anything.
art will save you, being unreasonably passionate about something niche will save you, letting past sources of joy show you the way back to yourself will save you, earnestness over composure will save you, the natural world will save you, caring for something bigger than yourself will save you, daring to be seen will save you, kindness not as a whim but a principle will save you, appreciation as a practice will save you, daring to try something new will save you, grounding will save you, love will save you, one good nights sleep will save you

The moment I feel like I am about to slip back into doing something harmful or repeating a pattern I know to be toxic, I need to remind myself that there are certain things in life that are simply beneath me. By choosing to engage in them I am doing myself an act of disservice because I'm actively going against my best interests.
Binge eating and breaking my diet, which then leads to me feeling terrible about my body? Beneath me. Downloading dating apps where low-quality men want me to pursue them and give them easy access to me so they can mistreat me and humiliate me? Beneath me. Doom scrolling on social media when I could use that time to consume content that enriches me intellectually, spiritually or mentally? Beneath me. Oversharing with people I just met so I don't feel uncomfortable which leads to feeding a people-pleasing monster? Beneath me.
I value myself, so I don't engage in what is beneath me. It's simple.
date sweet men. men who can articulate themselves. men who are soft spoken. men who are patient with you. men who respect their own bodies. men who are kind to your soul. men that are gentle. men who have self control.
